Constructive criticism includes reasons, not just bathroom words.

;lol

It's okay, Valka.  Me and Dale are old frenemies, and I don't mind him hating on the CFC ripoff theme - a look not everyone likes at CFC to begin with- I dumped him in back in August when he left in a huff, comparing me to them 'cause I moderated a blasphemy.  We ain't mad -this time, now- we're just rude to each other.  -And since I came in expecting him to be mad about being dumped in it, I'm actually relieved.

Dale, I don't like that ugly red box around posts, either.  It's a limitation on what I could get the theme to do.  I do like the CFC look of the index levels -Solver said just this morning that it looks better than the real CFC- and it all started just to prove to myself the CFC Modern look works without all the &^%$#@! wasted top space they have.

And Dale - we're cool, but act like Valka's a lady you respect, okay?

My point on what constructive criticism is stands, no matter if we're discussing skins or short stories.

I will accept that you're okay with this here, but it's not something I will accept in the writing forum.

You are right, I'm not usually so mellow about criticism of my art, and I will back you to the hilt in your domain.

Valka, I apologise if I offended you. Obviously that was not the intent. As BU pointed out we have a certain relationship. We like to poke each other. I poked him ages ago, he poked me in return by puttingme in the fake cfc theme. I poked him back about it which you saw above.

Constructively:
The fake cfc theme aside from being a poor rip off, contains elements which are very poor choices for a web theme. Examples include the red boxes around the text, specially boxes in boxes when quoting.  The menu layout at the top doesn't align or look aesthetically correct in the current layout.

It simply looks crap to the eye.

25 years of Civ forums and I refuse to pull punches anymore.

BU, you say we're not mad, but you know all too well we are.

Just not angry. ;)

Ah.  I stand corrected, sir.  As a matter of fact, I'm straight-up manic this week, so an especially apt call.

...I'm going to bestir myself to have a look at Fake CFC in Chrome and Firefox, though - I never noticed any alignment problem with the menu.  Any exotic browser/browser settings, Dale, or non-default text sizes?  I can't really do anything about the boxes besides make them invisible, but I want the menu stuff right...

Oooh.  Collapse that top-space wasting extra crap at the top.  I didn't think anyone in their right mind (ah - suddenly I see the problem ;)) would leave that ugly junk up there.  Don't know a way to have it collapsed by default, it being strange SMF thing.  The "Non-Google search bar ->" is actually the collapse button, which does open the crap back up if it had been collapsed like I didn't consider it wouldn't be, including a search bar.

Oh, and I just figured out what the menu centering problem you see is.  There's no way to just center the stupid thing in the themes interface and I did it manually with where I centered the menu - and didn't consider that I see Admin and Moderator buttons everyone else doesn't.

I may break down and spend the annoying time it'll take to fix that in 14 themes, with AC2 up in another browser so I can check signed out quickly, down the road, but not tonight, with my apologies.

And Dale?  Does it surprise you to learn that the themes interface is a frustrating nightmare in yet another forum software?  Now I miss Hot Dog; God, it was ugly.

No it doesn't surprise me.  But it does disappoint me.

Maybe I've just gotten too used to SharePoint, Blend and Visual Studio, and forgotten what it was like.

-So, I find myself thinking about a Civ6 theme.  I can make it default in the 6 folder for all the lurkers and anyone in the default theme...

Anybody got any ideas about what that would look like beyond the obvious Atlas background?

I mostly like it... but why is each word in a different font?
