I Just thought of a clever art dodge that's more likely to bork other things, but worth a try.  I can see exactly what happened with the bars at your width and know which file that's in.  Hold on a few minutes while I boot some programs...

Okay; hit refresh again.  It borked up other stuff as I feared, but I may be on to something I can adjust to make work...

...And for a short-term solution to the other problem, I think if you zoom in about 50% -I find I can replicate your problem by zooming out- the collapse pointer (and old school slogan) will appear, and you can make those useless elements at the top go away...

Okay, I'm making progress; if I can find where to go to make the board categories center, I can move the twist in the bar to their left, maybe.  I have to figure out where to put it to show for Other Games and onward, too, or figure out why they're different than Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth and Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri & Alien Crossfire.  Probably just the length of the category names.

This has to work in the usual resolution before anything else, of course.

Wait.  No, the twists are moved by how much I extended the width of the file.  Hold; I think I've got it.

...I'm going to have to do all the same fixes to the equivalent (but blue) file for SMAC once I get this arranged...

No sweat.  A pedant craves perfection, and that's me lately.  Did the zooming work?

Okay, I think I've figured out how the program find what it wants in the graphic elements file.  -It just counts from the edges.  I'm gonna widen the file about 25% more for good measure to accommodate really ridiculously high resolutions...

Zooming once fixes the gaps in the top Bars. However to get rid of the bars at "other games" and "community" I have to zoom in three times because those gaps are bigger.

Fear not, my kraut friend.  Attached is an as-is screeny of the index zoomed to 50% in Chrome, a resolution that astronauts don't have good enough vision to read the posts at, so as far as I need to go.  Hit refresh and enjoy. ([Ctl]F5 if you see no change.)

That part's fixed.  We'll prob'ly need Draz for the collapse pointer problem.

...Now I gotta do the same to SMAC, but this time, I know what I'm doing, and it'll take just minutes...

-The search page accessible from the menu is far less lame a search function and the greetings links are redundant to stuff at the top of your right sidebar...  ;nod

Go to the Front Page and refresh, y'all, no matter what theme you're in.  I've figured out something semi-clever.

Any luck with collapsing the superfluous stuff?

finally, yes.
I had to zoom in even 2 more times, then the button for collapsing it appeared.

I'm still moving those elements around, trying to fix that...

Okay; I've nailed down the vanishing slogan/collapse pointer problem.  The header image is 99 pixels high so the white lines can match up, and the index is cheated upwards into the black (transparent, actually, under/inside the line) with a negative top margin.  Those two elements, which keep the index from creeping upwards at top margin values of zero or greater (when they only go up to the bottom of the .99 pixel space, also have negative values entered to move them up over the logo header where they traditionally go.  When zoomed out sufficiently (or the monitor is wide enough to do the equivalent) -in Chrome on my screen, in their current position of right-margin,

that's 75%- they slide out from under that 99 pixel space and fly off into infinite negative top-space. (Actually, hovering out of sight about -9em over the screen.)

This's at 0 top margin, so they stop butted against the top of the screen zoomed at 75%.

-SO; first, I'm going to try leaving them atop the root directory body under the line, and find that negative top value for the index, which I'll increase by 33 to compensate for the gap the pointer not going negative inflicts.

If that don't work, putting the header onto the background art might do it, but it'll take some jiggering and cleverness I haven't clevered up yet to keep the curve in the line and keep the top as tight as I insist on, which'll require a bit of skull-sweat...

The ancient Chinese had a name for it: Feng Shui. We call it energy flow. It is the same thing, the same thought: energy is everywhere, but only a fraction of it is tapped by humans for their purposes. Now the Progenitors have taught us that we can tap not only our own latent abilities, but the latent abilities of the Universe itself.
