The most I ever got from a doctor was a jelly bean or lollipop.  :-\

Present for my niece.  She's into Disney Princesses right now... or at least she was two minutes ago...

Starting on a Doll repaint project.  BU suggested I do a play-by-play for this thread.  The doll is a Madame Alexander "Alexandra" doll.  I bought her with the paint removed for about $9 on Ebay.  She looked like this when she was new.

And here she is with the face paint removed.

Instead of painting her with acrylics as I've done in the past, I'm experimenting with a technique that uses chalk pastels and colored pencils.  Here's a start at some shading with the pastels in red and rust.

Nice with the blush around the nostrils, but I'd wipe away about 2/3 of it from the bridge of the nose.  Even small real noses don't have that, although I can think of a number of comic book artists who paint/color there own work a lot, and end up making all their Caucasian characters look like caricatures of Irish drunks...

The shading under the eyes is an exquisite touch of realism, but watch letting it trail off to the sides - real under-eye coloration stays under the eyes.

The blue eyes you roughed in do everything to turn it into a face, and not a mockery of a face.  They make a really distinct difference from the earlier shots.  This is heading towards a Taylor Swift sort of attractive, with lots of personality.

Thanks for the feedback.  I'm doing for a young, freckle-faced complexion, so that's where I was going with the shading on the nose.

Here's with some watercolor pencils added for definition...

I shall not confront Planet as an enemy, but shall accept its mysteries as gifts to be cherished. Nor shall I crudely seek to peel the layers away like the skin from an onion. Instead I shall gather them together as the tree gathers the breeze. The wind shall blow and I shall bend. The sky shall open and I shall drink my fill.
