Is that a naked barbie sitting on a pile of books on your mantle display ? I am increasingly disturbed by some of the things that I have seen in that house.... However, you might admit, it does reflect someone's love for collecting dolls.

Is that a bird hiding behind the fake plant? I still think that the fake plant is one of the few things on this mantle that you might find on most mantle's. Is that mantle above a fireplace? If so, it might get very warm up there...

Well, it would be just like one of those evil dolls to switch places with a human.

Perhaps that's not a naked Barbie at all, but some poor bride transformed on her wedding night... now trapped in a doll's body. One never really knows.

Well, it's not so much a mantle "display" as it is an odd collection of things I currently have sitting on my mantle until I can find an more appropriate location for them.  And no, since this is Texas and it never actually gets hot enough to require a fire, it doesn't get too hot on the mantle.  (I have candles in my fireplace instead of logs) But yes, you are right, there are two naked dolls.  Neither of them are really Barbies, so I didn't have any clothing for them readily at hand.  However, your concern has prompted me to locate a couple emergency garments that -- although not a perfect fit -- can be pressed into service to spare their plastic blushes.

The "bird" behind the plant (that everyone has correctly identified as a member of the genus "fake") is actually an oni mask that BU and I made a couple years ago.  Here it is in its unobscured glory:

The bride Barbie is actually a bride Barbie.  She and her bridesmaid were part of my half-price thrift store haul from the other day.  I ended up getting them -- clothed, clean, and lovely -- for $3 each.
