Hmmm.... Hard to say since I did it over the course of several weeks.  Maybe around 6-8 hours?

Working on another doll make-over as a birthday present for a friend.  Once again, I'm using a Monster High doll to recreated a original character from Star Trek fan fiction.  This character belongs a fan-created race that has silver-toned skin and burgundy hair.  Here are pictures of the doll I'm starting with and the character I'm going to re-create:

Here's the doll with hair, fins, and extra makeup removed.  (I've decided I'm going to be a little lazy on this one and only partially re-paint the doll's face.)

Yes, "Laguna Blue" has fins for some reason.... Daughter of the Monster of the Blue Lagoon maybe?

On her arms and legs.  She's got odd fin-like ears too

Starting work on the hair now.  This one is a little tricky.  This alien race has a hair color described as "burgundy."  To get a wine-like color, I picked two dark shades of red then added a dark purple to give it a more alien sort of hue.  Once you brush the hair, the strands blend to get a nice wine-colored shade, but I've decided to stop adding in the purple at this point to avoid pure purple streaks near the face.

At this stage, the head hair looks like a Citybuilder from Larry Niven's Ringworld.

The level of patience and attention to detail on doing hair has always fascinated me.  Never could acquire the taste for it back when I was doing shrunken heads, though.

I've tried it -I can sew- and the constant needle-threading made it a non-starter.  My eyes are not what they used to be.
