Turn 109

The gold market does well, and I cash in on a major winfall.

Turn 110

First bandits, and now this! Now the natives will cash in on the misery and wreck havoc. Great.

Turn 113

My Carnivines head westward, in an attempt to continue to explore the area around Davo's territory. Isolated pockets of civil disorder also take place, due to my empire's slow yet steady expansion.

Turn 114

It's now okay to talk again. I hope Oblivion doesn't immeditately start threatening me as a result.

Turn 116

It didn't take long for Oblivion to attack us. Davo's workers are instantly destroyed by Fallen charmanders. There isn't much time before I will have to fight and I'm not quite ready! Liquid Love is also founded.

Morgius then arrives and wishes to see me. I grant him an audience.

Morgius isn't happy to see me by any means--but he's still playing nice, living up to his reputation.

And now we see why. Morgius wishes for my support against the rather strong Protector forces. I'm not really in a position to do anything about it due to the Protectors being on the other continent, so I must decline.

Refusing his alliance also prevents him from feeling up to any technological trading as well. A shame, but what must be is what must be. I then dismiss Morgius.

And now Oblivion is here. Great.

Oblivion begins in a clearly confident and ballsy tone. It's obvious he views himself as the superior.

Oblivion seems to have some brain going on in that skull of his-- or perhaps somebody close to him is advising him, telling him what to say. I can see the logic in his attempt to break my alliance with Davo--but I recognise it for what it is: divide and conquer. I'll stick to my guns, thank you very much!

And then come the threats. I'm not impressed.

And so the epic struggle of the Light vs. the Darkness begins once again. Who will win? I hope it's me!

Not a great start...

Turn 119

Davo's defences are tested by Oblivion's forces, but largely I have escaped the hostilities for now. Still it is time to mobilise: I have no momentum units and I have an entire continent to conquer!

Still, at least my expansion's going well.

In an attempt to increase both Davo's and my own military might, I offer him an exchange of technological information.

Squirtle Mastery is the final, Tier 3, Squirtle technology. It allows the construction of Squirtle Ninjae (5/2/3), which can travel over all terrain with equal ease. They'll certainly do as an attack unit at this stage.

We trade again, and this time I get the Tier 2 Squirtle technology, which provides a weaker Squirtle unit, but also the interesting Armoured Pod, which serves as a Colony Pod more suited for long-range city construction.

Davo certainly appreciates me!

Davo gives me Dark Rose Rituals, sometimes a key technology, but in this case overshadowed by Path of Squirtle Mastery. Dark Roses (5/2/2) are very powerful for Tier 2 units, but cannot be repaired.

Turn 122

Victory Bay is founded. Work begins on training up some Squirtle Ninjae at most free cities.

Turn 123

Trade Focus. It is pure, shining, victory.

Once again, a very difficult decision. I can't keep going with economic technologies forever, but Industry Focus is really necessary for long-term productivity, so I go with that.

Woo!

...I only destroyed a worker, but still, woo!

Haha nice one guys. :P I appreciate how much you guys know me!

Turn 123

Free Wharf, a naval city to the south, is founded where I previously lost my Gunboat. Poor Gunboat.

Turn 124

I see an enemy Regenerating Rose head for Brotherly Love... so I awaken my defending Carnivine and take it out!

Our first meaningful combat victory!

Turn 126

I noticed something interesting! Thanks to Davo and I's technology trading, the Café has reached number 2 on the power graph! I don't picture it lasting if Oblivion lives up to his hype, but the growth is still pretty surprising.

Turn 127

My first Squirtle Ninja is built! Hopefully he's not the last!

If there's anyway to take out Dark Roses safely, Carnivines are it! My sole Carnivine joins in the defence of Dizzy Nation, a key city defending the northern front. It seems the city has an Arena as well, further boosting my Carnivine's effectiveness.

Fallen forces respond with massive artillery bombardment. A hail of ballista bolts bombard the Café city, over and over, rapidly depleting the defending units' strength to the minimum city bombard value of 30%.

Turn 129

Davo gives me a Regenerating Rose randomly! Nothing for it but to send it straight to the Cradle of Light to defend against any possible native attacks. The native ritual event is also over, returning native forces to their usual levels.

Turn 131

Oblivion's forces seize Dizzy Nation. It will not be the first city to fall under his heel, but I will draw a line against him. My squirtle forces are slowly approaching The Big Win, aiming to make their stand there.

Out of nowhere, Jack, the leader of the Pirates, appears. He's the last person I need in order to be able to convene the council, but first, we exchange introductions.

He isn't in a great mood to start, but he decides to try and get me to join in the fight to overthrow Rakash. I decline, not wanting to fight any more wars than I have to.

He then proceeds to get into technology trading, offering Industrial Focus, which at this point is worth any technology he demands.

And now I can finally use those naval cities for military production as I've been mentioning repeatedly over this playthrough. This will be very helpful in dramatically increasing my strength.

He then offers to trade maps. For a pirate to trade maps, he must be pretty keen. Let's face it, there's no doubt treasure buried somewhere!

And the Pirates offer to side with me, my having earnt his respect. Why not?

Jack then leaves, and I take the time to study his maps. They don't lead to treasure, sadly, but they do reveal a large section of the other continent. It's helpful, being able to see most of the world map now, and where the borders lie.

Of course, now I get to choose my next technology. I'll be picking Rapid Transit this time, to allow myself to get Airports.

Turn 132

Morgius has arrived.

He's once again trying to get me to kill Rakash. I don't want to kill Rakash! After that, he then leaves.

Fallen forces continue to advance towards The Big Win. The dying screams of Café units are interrupted by Edge arriving in meeting hall 8.

She also seems interested in bringing the people together. It's no surprise, she gets double votes in the council!

And with that, she asks for an alliance. Sudden, but helpful. It'd mean I'm surrounded by allies! Maybe I'll win this war after all.

What an inspiring rally cry, Edge! And with alliances, comes technological freedom. And she's offering some of the most powerful military weapons available!

This technology probably one of my favourites. I love Clockwork Supertanks (8/1/3) as they are fantastic at rolling over an opponent. A great trade, and an ominous warning of a quote.

And we trade again, I providing more Native technology in exchange for Demonic Rose Incanations.

Roses of Destruction are the most powerful unit in the game, with an unparalleled attack strength of 10. It takes multiple defending units to survive a single Rose of Destruction.

And she gives me the last technology for free!

Combined Arms is overshadowed by other technologies I've already got, but it's still a good tier 2 option in other games.

But perhaps the most useful trade is the map--Oblivion's territory is very clearly labelled. My maps are essentially complete at this point, and I can see what I need to do next.

Alright, I'll do something soon. Sorry guys. Work's been hitting me pretty hard, and a council vote is getting due, which makes me want to finish the new Rakis logo first...

When all this is done we'll have to edit out all the "GET IT DONE KILKAKON" posts. XD

Okay - say the work when you're ready, and I'll clean it up.

I used your name in vein in a Council Room thread yesterday...
