So, was it easy to lure her back home? I can imagine lots of frolicking went on at the park.

Sorry, I didn't see this before.

My dog loves to go to the park- for the purpose of "Checking her messages."   She's not too active ever since she tore her ACL and had surgery about a year ago. Also, Schipperkes aren't good in the heat. So a one mile round trip to and through the park has her pretty tired and thirsty and eager for air conditioning.    I've set an alarm so that I can make a regular practice of walking her in the morning while the course is mostly in the shade, at least until mid September.

I'm still checking my temperature every day, and it's below normal.   Today my wife announced she doesn't think I'm sick, and she has given up on trying to get me a test.  I checked the Center for Disease Control website and answered their questions. They tell me I don't need a test. If my temperature is at or below normal tomorrow, I intend to call the blood center to reschedule.

*Got my blood donation done. It went pretty quickly this time with an appointment and using the phone app to complete the questions.
*Stained my deck, using up various cans sitting around the house. That reminds me, I should put another coat of varnish on the front door. Maybe in September when it's cool enough to open the screens to let the fumes out.
* Painted another basement wall with drylock. Took three coats, those cinder blocks kept sucking up the stuff.
* I've been watering my plants every day. The daylilies I transplanted have completed their bloom cycle and are putting up new shoots. I'd call it a success.

Maybe you've been hearing about the overnight  shootings here. The reporting I've seen has ben largely incomplete.

WI is an open carry state. You can legally carry a firearm in plain view ( provided you are 18, which this Illinois interloper was not. ). Presumably Rittenhouse's group was hired to defend a gas station from arsonists.

The footage you aren't seeing is 1) militia saying the cops would send the protesters in their direction and leave. 2) Rittenhouse ( illegally carrying his rifle )approaching an armored vehicle and asking for water , getting both water and encouragement after curfew from the police. 3) Rittenhouse leaving the gas station and rapidly approaching some of the protestors/vandals and shooting one in the head, then saying on the phone "I just killed somebody". After that he started running away, and an angry crowd began pursuit. The video of him killing one pursuer and wounding another is what is gaining more attention on Tucker Carlson and national news.

You say these vigilantes were 'hired' to protect a gas station. Does that really mean the owner payed these vigilantes to guard the place? And if so, is that a legal practice in the USA?
In my country, you need to have at least a license before you can work as a payed guard. And that's a non-armed job at that. For a firing/carrying license you need a whole extra set of licenses and confirmed shooting club membership before you're even allowed to carry a handgun off your premises.

IF they even decide to charge him, he will likely be charged as an Adult (they have done for other cases, all depending).  If they keep it as a Juvenile thing, there will be a big outcry against that, I would think...

Might have been someone whom is very Right leaning, whom is doing things (behind the scenes) that are creating situations that fuel the Pro-Police (and current RNC fearmongering) situations.

1) He was charged with murder as an adult.

2) I'm not sure about the laws, they probably vary by city and state.
On the other hand, there are the "norms" . Back during the Rodney King riots in Las Angeles ( 1980s ? ) , the only grocery stores in the neighborhoods to survive the looting and burning were the Korean owned stores who put people on the roofs of the stores with shotguns to look mean and yell at the crowds when they approached the building. Insurance companies have been reluctant to pay for buildings and contest lost in riots, arguing that riots aren't normal situations with a fire department response, so they aren't covered.
Also, there simply aren't enough private security people in a city to protect the entire central business district on the same night.

So a store owner will likely ask or hire  a friend with a gun to stand outside the business or on the roof with him. If he doesn't know somebody, he starts contacting organizations of gun users. This is tolerated, because the police can't protect every business either.


IN THIS CASE the kid wasn't staying put protecting a business, he was roaming the streets. The cops should have told him to unload/ take apart his weapon and sent him home OR arrested him for breaking curfew and being under aged for open carry.

Here's an update on the Rittenhouse case.
Apparently they are trying to tell an edited story that paints him as a civic minded patriot acting in self defense. Republicans and FOX viewers see these edited versions that don't include the initial confrontation/ murder, and think he acted in self-defense and are calling him a hero and sending money.

* Oh yeah, I should do the front door. Fall has arrived on schedule.
* The reason for painting that basement wall was because that's where I wanted to put my grow lights. I moved my Japanese sweet potatoes down there.

* I have been working on a project this year. It's because of the pandemic. Too much time sitting at home looking out the window and thinking. Included in my back yard view is a dead spruce tree. The condo association and it's tree service on retainer hasn't done much of anything about the spruce trees, which are diseased, so I decided to remove it. It was near the underground cable/internet.  I cut off the limbs as high as I could reach, then washed the soil away from the roots some each day after I watered my day lilies and so forth. I remove the roots as I could see them clearly. Eventually the neighbor saw what I was up to and offered hid help. He rigged a come along to one of his trees and he slowly pulled the spruce down as I cut the roots.

 Then he got his chain saw and cut it up for me. I dug the rest of the roots out, put the firewood in the garage ( my nephew was going to use it for bonfires ) and cut the limbs into chips and put them on the path to the park. I planned to plant a red oak after Labor Day, but there were some delays with authorization. Meanwhile I extended the hole to put the new tree in line with the two it would be between.  I cut down or pushed over and cut up various dead trees that I didn't want to fall on my new tree. Some elms and hawthorns, and an ash or two. Left the roots or stumps to rot, but I cut everything up into firewood if it was fit, or chips if it was not. Some of it I split, but there is more to do.

I picked up all of the sticks and broke up or chipped them. I wanted to leave the surface clear to plant more daffodils there this fall. 40 Arrived today and I planted them. The red oak arrived and I planted it, too. Buried some pieces of concrete somebody had dumped in the woods in the spruce end of the hole. I've got a hundred crocus to plant tomorrow. I will need to scatter the surplus dirt after I top off the hole,  spread mulch around the tree and haul away the firewood.

Everybody asks what I'm doing back there, because it looks crazy from a distance, but everybody who looks closely like it.

I assume you are being funny/cute as usual. And as usual, I deserve being teased for a poorly constructed sentence. I enjoy making those kind of jokes myself.
In case I'm wrong, I'll clarify-

The blood donation center tests donations for Covid-19 anti-bodies. I was expecting an e-mail notification, but apparently they only send e-mails when the test is positive. When the blood test is negative it appears in the subsection of the phone application that includes my blood pressure, pulse, etc. I didn't see it there when I looked before. It's there now.
