Started the Diet Evolution program 3/8/18, 278.6 lbs.

---------------------------------

My step-dad (my dad's younger brother)  has cancer. He's had it for years, multiple surgeries, chemo cycles, & radiation. He's been in the hospital for about a month this time. 3 surgeries, and each seems to make him worse. In a week it's going to be my turn to stay with Mom. By then the last resort drug should be helping, or we're out of options.

So.... I got that on my mind. I'd prefer not to talk about it, because I want to avoid obsessing over it. Rec Commons is an escape.  I may be away from the net in the course of things. But if you see less of me, that's what's going on in my life.

----------------------------------------

On the political front I can't help but wonder why [Sleezebag]'s injunction against Stormy Daniels specifically forbids her discussion of paternity. Presumably the press would know of a child she was raising, and why no child support? Did [Sleezebag] pay for an abortion? Was there a miscarriage? Was his baby put up for adoption? Regardless of the underlying truth of that, it seems like there's a campaign finance violation worthy of investigation.

Does anything he does really surprise you these days?

I'm still trying to get around his wanting the Military Parade...  I also am behind in my Daily Show and Steven Colbert and have really not been paying much attention at all to news (except through them).

Honestly, he's immune to the dirtbag issues, because SO way out front on the openly being a dirtbag in the first place that he makes Reagan look like Clinton for stuff sticking.  -Legal issues associated, well, one can only hope.

Uncle Dad?  Whoa.

Yeah. Kinda biblical.
They were very much alike and came from her hometown, so when you look at it that way, it's not so surprising. From my perspective, it simplified family relations. No new people to get used to. Except my little sister/cousin.

I originally typed Dad for simplicity, but then I remembered explaining about my Dad before, ( Buncle described him as a buzzsaw)  he died of non-Hodgkins lymphoma caused lung cancer the week I turned twelve. So there's that.

E T- what's the Jeff Foxworthy term for multiple relationships?

My mother's mother's brother -English is useless about precise terms of slightly complex relationships- married sisters, waiting for one to die first.  ISTR there being some bad feelings, maybe all his daughter, the (Mom's first) cousin I've mentioned being an energetic ball of chaos who wears me out every summer when she stays with us for family reunions.  As far as I know, adverse reaction burned out quick and completely, as they lasted about two decades before either died.

A character, Uncle Carl.  Fat, bald, a little spectacularly ugly, with his huge ears sticking out and stinking cigars - and he was the big storyteller in the family, and when he was doing that, which was a great deal of time I was ever around him, at family gatherings, his eyes would light up and his whole face smiled, and he turned into a very beautiful man whom everyone just loved.

I know you will like that description.

A couple of the very best family stories have Carl in them, as guess how they got preserved and spread?

We'll see what my body wants to do. I know that when you put on this much weight, your bones get dense to support it, so when you return to your former size you still weigh much more.  My idea is to stop being clinincally obese, more importantly to reverse the course towards diabetes. If that happens ( like it did to my grandfather ) I'll be forced to give up sugar and starch anyway.

I'd rather do it on my own terms. So I've decided to stop procrastinating.

Hope hope the news about my situation isn't a factor due to this.  My heartfelt support for your step dad.

It kinda is. To get into it a little more, he has bone cancer in his skull. Treating the cancer traumatizes his brain. Life isn't in immediate peril now so much as cognitive and motor functions. So it's scary to think about and the C-word takes me there.
I like a break from that sometimes.

So, how about you and I agree to interact here and in other threads and PMs and we'll put this topic aside. Thanks for your thoughts. I'm here for you.

.

He likes and admires dictators- Sadam, Kim, Mussolini, Putin, Duarte. They know how to handle the press, drug dealers, and terrorists. Military parades is what they do while they live. It's a show of strength, and it glorifies The Leader what with all of the salutes.

Me, I'm all for the idea if it's a welcome home parade from several of the undeclared wars we are currently in. I'd love to bring the troops home for Christmas with their families.

Not sure, but "A Family Gathering" sounds about right...  I'd have to do a more detailed research into his stuff to be more exact...

From Stormy Daniels' lawyer, Michael Avenatti, early this morning on Twitter -
"To be clear and dispel the rumors, the “paternity” language in the NDA is boilerplate. There are no paternity issues here. We want to ensure the truth and only the truth - on ALL issues - is always reported. "

...Just because she's what she is doesn't mean her attorney is a dirtbag - that statement sounds like doing it right...

He's impressed me whenever I've seen him. I immediately asked myself why [Sleezebag] doesn't have a lawyer like this.

DUH! [Sleezebag] can't get a great lawyer because-

1) He doesn't listen to instructions
2) He doesn't pay
3) Narcissists clients are a lawyer's nightmare because they feel the world is about them, and entitled to the attorney's time day or night at no extra charge.
4)Then there's the matter of ethical issues with [Sleezebag].

So, I imagine cheapskate [Sleezebag] simply didn't want his penis pics getting out, and that's why the muzzle money.

Brief update- When I arrived I thought my step-dad was in grave peril of pneumonia, but that has passed. I think he'll survive now, and I think he will mostly recover given enough time and therapy. They took out the feeding tube, he is able to feed himself when the food is in small pieces. The hard part is seeing how much concentration, time, and effort simple things require.
Using arms and legs, as examples. Yesterday's major victory was peeling an orange in half an hour.

On the diet front, I'm without a scale. My last weigh-in was 261.2 ! I have less dietary control on the road, I'm eating more meat and less vegetables and salad than the plan calls for, but I continue to exclude the sugars, carbs, lentils, and artificial sweets. So hopefully I will at least hold steady.

So, even though it's not fun,  things are exceeding expectations.
