The thing about the Republicans is that the fractures between the different groups within the party are greater than within the Dem's.  They all understand that this "is it", basically, and that this will likely be their one major shot to change ObamaCare.  Sure, they will get to tweak it forevermore, but those are just tweaks and don't really count.  So, each group has a list of wants, and needs, and why do work ahead of time; particularly if you might not ever get the change to do something about it.  Who, after all, predicted a [Sleezebag] win 1-2 years ago?

Nobody. But they might have had plans for  a Jeb Bush or Ted Cruz or Scott Walker win 2 years ago. IF they were good managers.

Just remember, at least 50%, probably more, of what comes out of his mouth is done just to cause distractions away from other things.

[RANT] Two things on TV are giving me fits lately, and they aren't even political.

1) I've been seeing a lot of bull riding on the bar tvs when we've been dining lately. Some of it is obviously highlights. As a former cattleman, I understand that rodeo is essentially a skills contest turned sport, sort of like a lumberjack competition or Moonshiners turned stock car racers. Most of rodeo makes sense in that regard, but bull riding? That's just foolish. Every time I see it my mind screams " Why are you even going into the same pen as a bull without your heeler ( cattle dog ) for protection? "

2) Hurricane Harvey. It's hurricane season. People should have been paying attention. As Buncle can tell you ( because every northbound hurricane/tropical storm visits N. Carolina ), It's the slow ones you have to fear the most. 76_+{

I just got PussKeyFooted and computer crashed again, this time by the black cat.

Everyone is taking Harvey seriously now. They expect to get between half a year and a year's worth of rain in one weather event. My wife said she hopes she never experiences anything like that. I told her not to worry, we would have packed up the pets and headed for Oklahoma on Friday while we still could. Yes, I know they can't evacuate a city the size of Houston or LA, but every family that leaves the area early takes pressure off of those that remain behind, without power, or water, or transportation, and food supply problems. The storms make the Outer Banks uninhabitable, and people who live there have chosen poorly, to put it tactfully - but they don't make it to the foot of the mountains much, not in any condition to be troublesome...

So, the Southeast is best avoided from mid-August onwards?

You might want to do that on account of the humidity, anyway.  I wouldn't take a cruise in the Gulf of Mexico or the Caribbean during hurricane season. What I am saying is you should pay attention to the tropical storms on the weather reports if you go there.

Hurricanes are powered by warm oceans, and if the oceans are a little warmer these days, they have potential to grow stronger as they approach.

How the heck does [Sleezebag] expect to replace all of the soon to be moldy drywall in Texas without Mexican labor?

Not his problem, as he would expect the monies to be properly spent...whom is at the bottom of the food chain is not really his concern, as long as his bigoted business buddies get the lion share of the loot...  and he gets the praise....

SO.........

As I've mentioned on this board this weekend, Labor Day isn't a holiday where we have particular plans. We usually stay home, unless her brother invites us to his lake cottage for a boat ride and burgers.

It's been a customer service kind of weekend. The wife got an e-mail about an account change from ATT&T . We have the whole bundle, TV cable, land lines, internet, & cell phones.    Somebody in the Bronx added themselves to our account,  bought some new iPhones, charged them to our account  on a payment plan and disabled our SIM cards.

It's handy to have a landline and e-mail when this crap happens. It took a lot of time and calls to straighten this out. Response time is slower because of the holiday.

Finally sorted it out after 16 hours or so.

A few hours later, it has  happened again! Now wife is locked out of her e-mail and the phones are disabled, gotta go.

Someone added him/herself to your ATT&T account? How is that even possible without an ATT&T employee (or affiliate) doing that?

Besides hacking of course.

If they have the account number and SSN, ATT has no idea who you or they are - and they have the right credentials to prove that they are a part of the account.

When it happened to me, I ended up closing the account and opening up a new one.

And the Lord God said, 'Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language, and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech'.
