I decided to tear most of those wide strips in half, thinner, and -HOLY CRAP- have I been wasting time/doing it the hard way.

I think I'll do the last two layers diagonal, just for kicks.

Four fifths of the way through the next layer, I had to knock off to cook supper.  Then eat.  Then kat supper.  Then latex Dixie again while my hands were clean.  I wanted to keep working, but do not live in a vacuum.  Here.

Insert GeoModder joke here.

One layer to go.

Y'know, I set the Dixie base on my desk to apply a first coat of latex of the day and get it out of the way so I could work on something in a more interesting phase - and thought "ta heck with it; this is ready".

So I need to pry it off the base -hope the rubber cement doesn't cause complications- and I ought to have a mask ready to address the trimming issues -I need to engineer a way to mount/attach cloth ears Momma plans to make, but allow Princess to paint the mache- by tomorrow morning...

Well that took a little plaster.

I had an easy shortcut in engineering support for the mask/mold, and these are cropped to give Uno a good look.

I doubled the lining and vaselined the interior of the mask - the latter, I didn't when I cast Johnny, so I don't anticipate trouble demolding.

Using the back of a teaspoon to smooth plaster up the sides yielded a neater -one assumes stronger- result.  The first -roughly- quart of 2:1 revealed the ledge a couple times during that, and I'm hoping the plaster didn't take surface flaws from it after I added about a half quart more for thickness/strength and spread, pictured.

I really noticed how much that volume of plaster heats up while curing when I took it to set in front of the dehumidifier after about 20 minutes in place...

I can definitely work with this...

More flaws than photographed, but I had some sanding in mind, anyway.

Seeing you make these makes me really want to try it; but I feel like I should organize my house and the like first lol

Definitely cool to see paper mache crafting tho, might do some similar type stuff after my big house cleaning.

:D  I would love to see it.

A clean -or at least, organized- workspace matters.

I'll keep you posted. I also got a painting I am doing for a novel I am writing, to serve as its book cover:

Thanks! I always try to improve my grasp but the efforts are... mixed results.

-Taking a break halfway through; noses are tough, and this one is all nose.

(No need to copy/paste this line to Buster, but I'd really rather be working on the plaster Mars Face base; I was sick of this dog before I started masking on it today.  It's all awkward curves, and I can't get the side facing me lit while I work on it, mostly.  I'll be glad to have it off my plate, finally.)
