So, starting with the face-

It's a great face, I kid you not.  The broad nose and strong chin and very deepset eyes all have a lot of character/personality - and just drip masculinity...  I know a lady online who I'm certain thinks so, too...

Well, the first wrestling mask -and the shell to build the kitten base on- are drying now...

Mask dry and off the base.


-Uno, that's a local Christian free paper on the top few layers...  I pick a copyup most months for the high-quality paper it's printed on...

Here's the back, though the flash ruined the perspective:

I have some construction paper I cut up in Texas -cut paper's edges show if used on the last layer, but are fine for earlier ones- and I use the thickest paper I can for the first layer for sturdiness...

I believe -and Mylochka agrees- that since I got carried away and covered everything, I'll trim this as-is w/ small eyeholes and leave it a mouthless face...

Okay - I'll take and post another pic when Mylochka has done whatever she does to decorate the mask, but my part of this one is done, now.





Note the shell for the kitten base behind the shot of the inside.  More of that as I get something done...

We need to get you a more complete form. 

How close to life do you really need? 

My "near life cast" forms are about 1/10th the cost of a true lifecast. 



Heavy as all get out though.

I don't know what I'd do with an entire head, or I'd have made some already.

Two more masks are dry and ready for trimming.  I got a very late start today, but I'll get pics before that.  I wonder if I should stop, here - need to talk to Mylochka about that.

Planning to cast new bases of her and my faces today, and start making that cat face base...

You could take the wrestling mask idea all the way, like I did with that latest, have them lace up the back. 

Surprising how comfortable that is, really.  Though it's either stretching or my head got smaller.  Gonna have to redo the laces. 

In fact, I think a little decoupaged fabric and paper mache would mesh together really well, and mod podge lets that fabric stay flexible enough to work as a mask.  (though dragon skin would probably be best)

Hmmm.  There's a thought to think on...

Mylochka says to finish up the two new masks, and leave off that for now until she painted these three and sees if she has more design ideas...

...I'm reminded of why I don't particularly care for working with plaster -though it was really more the shortcomings of the molds at fault- but the face bases of me and Mylochka have been cast, which makes a lot of facial appliances on hand practical to use again...

Finally got started on the kitten base:





The muzzle is way too big.  I think I'll have to break out the dremel when it's dried enough and do some grinding down before I do some filling and fine detail with sculpey...

Everything about those ears is going to be a pain to work out - far from least, getting masks off the base when they dry...
