Well, Odo's makeup is bad on purpose. ;)

No, it's supposed to look like a bad copy of a human on purpose.  It's rather shocking just how little MOVEMENT it allowed.  Literally the only thing moving on Odo is the lower jaw most the time.  Same with ferengi as both are full bore masks.  Cardissians get the [poopy] neck things which cause their own issues, but also get by with minor appliances to the face so can at least emote.

Hahaha DS9 was the best. I recently watched my kickstarter copy of the 'DS9 What We Left Behind' doco which had heaps of the amazing DS9 HD footage.. odo looked pretty good in them IMO!

As for new trek.. I thought Discovery season 1 was okay but there were many things that annoyed me. Season 2 was a huge improvement for me however that was mainly due to the additional cast members playing Pike, Spock and Number One on the enterprise, there was still some silly stuff (lazy writing plot hole things as usual) that annoyed me though. Season 3 loses those great additions so I fear it'll disappoint me again lol. My love of the Disco season 2 Enterprise content of course also leaves me super excited for Star Trek Strange New Worlds (aka the Star Trek Pike show fans demanded heh) as they've said it will be a more traditional episodic Star Trek adventure show on the Enterprise! So hopefully they can't screw that up too much... although there's some rumour (possibly BS) out there that it's also going to have a young bisexual Kirk running about in the show so read into that what you will lol!!

Back to good old Picard.. I've decided I'm not going to call it that anymore now. To me this show shall now be known as 'Patrick Stewart Goes To Space' (PSGTS for short) as there really isn't much Star Trek or Picard in it lol!!! I've been waiting for the 'Critical Drinker' to review PSGTS as I've become an fan of his after seeing his Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker reviews on those cluster****s. Sure enough in the video below you can see he hates it and he talks about Picard himself being rather useless just like I talked about in my episode reviews earlier in this thread. Yes I know hating on stuff is kind of his gimmick haha but he makes good points that match a lot of my previously posted thoughts.

This is Patrick Stewart Goes To Space!

And this is Star Trek Picard baby!!

Bah, this whole scene was rife with errors.
What asteroid would double a velocity dozens of meters/sec (squared) in a mere dozen seconds? We're talking about a rock perhaps twice the size of the Enterprise, with way less density.

As with a lot of STNG, a lot of sloppy Writing...  As long as you didn't fully engage your mind and got over the Technobabble, then you were golden...

I was posting about Picard himself and not so much what was going on around him. As yes I think most people thought "what the?" when they saw the size the asteroid versus the Enterprise lol. However doing giant asteroids back in 1989/90ish (as that was a season 3 ep) would not have been as easy as it would be now. Now it's CGI but back then they would have had to build the thing and swung the model around it lol.

Yeah as E_T eludes to, if a show felt like Star Trek, the characters were awesome and you were engaged in the adventure then plot holes and technical gaffs were easier to tolerate lol. When a show fails at those things its other flaws are just so much more obvious.

I've been giving Star Trek: Lower Decks a chance. It's... not the worst thing on television. One of the episodes is even pretty good.

New Voyages has released the "work print" of two episodes shot but not finished when Alex Peters ruined it for everyone.  That's him looking in the window a couple minutes in saying Kirk has potential.  This also features Vic Mignogna just before the Continues schism, and that show's Spock, Todd Haberkorn, as Sulu.

I have not watched but four minutes of this so far.  W/o any post-production, so keep your expectations low.

I gather the Elvis guy only intended to leave them up a week, not that he said.  There was another episode that was down before I even posted the link here - and I hadn't watched either yet. :(

Voyager, as someone said on trekBBs years ago, was all about failure to meet its promise. The Maquis conflict premise never going anywhere. The inadequate establishment of Tom Paris' bad boy nature, told but never credibly shown. Everything about the failure of the Chakotay character, writing to acting impossible to untangle. Everything about Nelix throughout.

It hewed far closer to Star Trek as an adventure show than all the other revivals except Enterprise, and there's where a good deal of the pleasure we took in it resides -they flew around and blew stuff up and had battles- but the people were pretty weakly-conceived and poorly executed. -And the Maquis thing was an actual good idea. Pity.
