Found some kind of fly or maybe wasp that is able to change it's color.  Landed on my shirt, it was bright green, and changed to red as my son tried to get it off.  Then it crawled down onto my arm where it quickly changed fleshy colored.  Totally boggled, the locals don't care about bugs, and there are no field guides to the unique ecology of insects in the thermal areas here.

Did you consider specimening that bug for passing on to an expert?

I was hardly equipped.  I have a photo on an iphone once I figure how to pull it off i can try to identify better.  couldn't take a pic with Vera one handed.

Latex with a plaster gauze shell, of course, but it's gonna be a girldog, and we both know it.

You may have to cast some detail separately and glue together.  Probably, even.

Think I've narrowed it down to a group of flies (dobsonfly relative) but no luck on species.
