OH, no, sorry, funny for me.

It was like part starship troopers, part life, and part cloverfield wrapped into a schlock film budget but with everyone clearly enjoying it and doing their best kind of 'so bad it's funny/good'.

Which are the episodes of Twilight Zone I like best.

Forget the famous ones like Eye of the Beholder, and give me Mr Garrity and the Graves any day of the week.

Part of the reason I so liked the 80s run.

Where are you on Talking Tina and Telly Savalis?

Where are you on Talking Tina

I'll be honest, it wasn't until I really got to see it through Talia's eyes that I began to really understand and appreciate doll horror.  It was a find episode for what it was, but not my thing, and felt a little redundant with the ventriloquist dummy horror they'd done already.  I should really re-watch this now, though.

and Telly Savalis?

Kojak?  He's kinda like James Spader is today for me.  Just give him lines and let him talk.  He makes anything better.

Kojak starred in the original classic Tina, of course.  -Just to be sure we're not talking about a remake(s) that no doubt exists in a later version(s) of the show.

The 90's Zone WAS okay/fairly quality.  Spader, too.

90's?  You talking the darth vader voice over movie/anthology?

Or the 80s run that had the likes of shadow people, giant rats in the basement, and vampires living next door?

Curiously, I only caught an episode or two of the 2000 run.

Did that start as early as the late 80s?  Of course, it didn't last near as long as the Outer Limits revival, very much the same thing if less faithful to the original.  THAT I'm sure of as big in cable/syndication mid-90s, in those Action Pack, Hercules/Xena, Babylon 5, Renegade days...

Yeah, I think the twilight zone was mid 80s to early 90s.

I also liked the outer limits revival, but it was FAR more uneven.  I especially liked that the special effects never looked beyond anything I could do at home.

OG Zone was a much more even -and better- show.

OG Limits was monster of the week -right lame, that- though the 1st season closing music, and credits over astronomy photos, that STILL gets to me.

I believe I've mentioned before how Talia likes the treasure hunting shows.  Our favorite one isn't on any longer, and Oak Island is still a staple in the house...

But the new one that come out Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch is based in Utah and mostly implying that they are looking for the Rhodes mines.

I was willing to look past the blatantly planted 'finds'.
I was willing to look past the constant suggestion of Alien activity because the folks in that town legitimately believe that.
I was willing to look past the vastly over-dramatized moments of 'danger'.

BUT I ABSOLUTELY DRAW THE LINE WHEN THEY GET A FREAKING "EXPERT" TO TELL LIES ABOUT HORSE FLY LARVA.

So...I'm a huge fan of both these...

...But there's no reason any version of Kong we've ever seen has any business being on the battlefield with Godzilla.

That said, if this is still around in theaters whenever covid ends, I would totally go to it.

You've been mighty quiet for about a week.

Have we ever talked about The Yankee On The Stairs as a sort of horror?

I see my imagination and 53 years has altered some details (I'd have sworn that beard was black and she gut-shot him and he didn't die quick, but slow and ugly) but this.

(The movie in my head, it all went on longer, and I still see him w/ black beard, but a bit thicker/bristly-er, and his back, rollling on the floor dying gut-shot...  Not a quick moment -real menace- I was three.)

Well we can't have that latter.

Here.  I'm reviewing my reign as Sherrif of Smilietown, and I just stumbled over my first try at the Pum'kin smilie about a year before.  It has some merit, even compared to the final eight or so tries later.

...If I set you up with ALL the tries, or even jiggered some to look lit differently on purpose, you might could do some subtle effect w/ a row of not-quite-the same ones.  Different carvings in the mix might not burn off months of my life, either...
