Morgan: Should he get a bonus to Industry, Economy, or both?
« on: April 18, 2014, 07:32:45 PM »
Do you think Morgan should get a social Economy Bonus, a social Industry Bonus, or both? I am uncertain at this point because his agenda and several other flavor related features point towards both Economy and Industry. His file currently looks like this:
SOCIAL, +ECONOMY, SOCIAL, -SUPPORT, SOCIAL, -EFFIC, COMMERCE, 1, HURRY, 75, ENERGY, 100, INTEREST, 3, POPULATION, 3,

With +ECONOMY, COMMERCE 1, HURRY 75, and INTEREST 3, he is supposed to be able to make enough money collect enough ECs to buy rush his stuff instead of building it. If he had +INDUSTRY, I would take away his HURRY discount. Maybe give him free Skunkworks upon discovery of Adv. Subatomic Theory (FREEFAC, 10)?

I don't really think he's into building stuff; he's the investor side of a business, not the actual worker side.  So I don't think INDUSTRY fits; while he is sometimes referred to as an industrial conglomerate or the like, that "industry" as in "business that produces things", which is quite different than what the INDUSTRY social engineering aspect represents.

I always took it that if you think Morgan = Donald [Sleezebag] (or maybe a douchier Richard Branson), you can't go too far wrong; he's got fingers in many, many business pies - from in-game evidence, very much including things like mining and manufacturing...

What Yitzi said.  If he had a second bonus though it would possibly be +IND.  The -EFFIC I'd rate as about a wash against the Interest and Hurry reduction, so he'd need a third downside.  Which is getting to be a lot of +/-, but if your set is like that for all factions I guess it's okay :)

I interpret IND more as industriousness - making things rather than energy (ECON SE).  This is why I put IND to Planned, Wealth, and Thought Control.  Planned/Wealth because the focus is on infrastructure development.  Thought Control because of increased worker load (they are made to enjoy working a lot like the Genejack).

I don't feel that Morgan is a weak faction.  Possibly one of the stronger ones in my opinion - the starting 100 energy gives 2 fast recycle tanks.  That's pretty much a base worth of production from the start, when everyone else has to build them unless having good pod luck.

..., so he'd need a third downside.

Extra drone every x number of citizens? Or perhaps a -Talent (undocumented downside then ingameà.

Drone per X might work.  -TALENT is too steep on Transcend to usually make use of.  Unless you give a faction some way to deal with it (POLICE, Rec Commons, PSpheres, etc).  None of which really fit Morgan.
