BUncle, if you need to talk, I have ears and eyes willing to observe and listen... and you saying nobody loves you is [nonsense] and you know it. I love you BUncle, you are my tovarishi and comrade and you've helped me a fair deal not just technically but giving me a little motivation to live and do stuff. I was near dying from sickness this past year and you know what gave me a little bit of spark, something to look forward to socially? This forum and the people in it. I'm old, most of my friends have already departed and im growing ever more distant from my family. I feel like giving back to people, and if anything giving back to you, the damned pillar of this forum. Don't sell yourself short... a beloved dog may die, day may pass, but I'll be damned before I see a good friend think he has no support. You might be a pillar, but no pillar stands without a pedestal, and your pedestal is the people who care about you. I'm one of them dammit, and don't you forget that... I care for your well being.

On the note of your Lost Eden mod Kilkakon, maybe you've just been aiming it at the wrong audience- sort of firing a proposal per say, comparison sake of an Oktoberfest festival to Muslims or Mormons. Not saying that there hasn't been interest here, its just a matter of where your advertising the thing:

Have you considered showing this to Pokemon related forums, pitching the idea to a younger crowd perhaps? Not only would you get people genuinely interested in the genre your mod uses, you also get youngsters interested in AC2. And from that we could potentially support you by educating any newcomers and supporting with other issues...

I know you might be embittered right now... but its a thought...

Salute, tove.  :salute: [moist eyes]  I don't know what I'd do without you.

This speaks to something I love about our community - we support each other.  Kil, I was square with you and told you I was using you for content.  On some level, all personal interaction is selfish, if you want to look at it that way.  -But on another, it's an unchristian way to see people just being good to each other.  I really am your friend, as you know.  I'm good at promoting, and I really thought I could sell LE. [shrugs]

Slava BUncle, Slava tovarishi!

Edit:

And we can still help you Kilkakon. I think its just a matter of targeting the right audience, the right pedestal of support- We can help build your pillar, your pantheon but you need to find the correct fanbase. I don't know your genre too well, but you might know some places to start. Veer away from civ fanatics or such, who might not be as welcoming to such a genre. Focus instead on the actual genre itself, is my honest advice.

He can't get poke'fans interested in SMACX, either.  He's tried.

Well; whatever your course of action Kilkakon... I advise you this- don't completely destroy all your work and remove it forever. The audience for it right now may not exist or be full, but down the road there could potentially be people trying to find something specific like this. They might re-discover this game and then see your unique mod, and try something new... there is a saying that many great artist's works only become famous after their death/lifetime.... and while im not saying you won't see your work being cherished within your lifetime, maybe it needs time. I'm an optimist, and I think you shouldn't outright eradicate it. Maybe provide a reformed alternative version, maybe tweak it, I don't know- but destroying it fully, and the original is wasteful of your efforts and may be barring future fans from ever experiencing your mod....

All I ask is you to think that over before you go further with whatever action. Your mod may be a bit odd and not in the tastes of conventional strategy gamer, but it has lots of great mechanics and work put in it, and even if people don't take onto it like wildfire en masse in its pure form, perhaps they can derive some use out of it- even of the intensive made artwork you've laboured over...

Yeah BU, you have friends here. :) You built yourself a fun little community, enjoy it! Plus Jesus loves you too.

Rest assured nothing is happening immeditately. I could have just pulled the page from my site and nobody would have noticed, but I'm here talking about it before I do anything.

The primary motivation driving this is not so much the mod being unplayed and unpopular, I can accept failed projects as I have made plenty, it's more that I want to pull my fandom of naked cuties offline. I've got a lot of flak from furries and hentai groups from being a Christian and not being on their forums promoting things, and not having my work being dirtier. The internet is a fun place to hang out, but yeah, with porn around every single corner I just don't think it's an appropriate place for my characters.

I did consider replacing the characters I care about in LE with new ones (specifically, myself, Rakash and maybe one or two others) for a release, but then I realised that just nobody plays the thing, and so the time spent wouldn't be really worth it. But I wouldn't want the work to go to waste, hence the suggestion of releasing the non-unit and non-leaderhead content as resources here in the Downloads area. That's been my train of thought.

Thanks for the support though guys. It's definitely a pleasant community.

And I love him right back.

Consider this: AC2 is my TCM, and it hurts my feeling right back that one of the people I most rely on doesn't really want to play it.  Ironic, huh?

I did consider replacing the characters I care about in LE with new ones (specifically, myself, Rakash and maybe one or two others) for a release, but then I realised that just nobody plays the thing, and so the time spent wouldn't be really worth it.
Do you really not see the flaw in the logic here?

And right. I thought those had fallen into irrelevance due to the wiki, but right.
The Official Pages have a lot of obsolete information anyway, but that isn't the point  - the point is that they're the Official Firaxis pages, and we want to complete the rescue/recreation.  Wiki entries aren't going to, hopefully, get us a link at the bottom of the Wikipedia SMACX article.  That's pretty much the most visible service we could possibly do all those SMACers out in the cold who've never found the online community...  It needs doing a year-and-a-half ago.

Please?

;b;

Hey, did you know that the LE GotM was something like the second scenario I ever playtested?  I posted the first, Eye of the Beholder last night, and was reminded.

Folks, if you're curious about Kil's work, go find Stranger in a Strange World in Command Nexus and give it a world.  It's fairly short, and it's a taste of his work - and it's good.

Sad, but understandable. Sucks when a project you've really invested in does not go as far as you want it to. I encourage you keep at least the SFW versions up and public indefinitely, even if you pull the uncensored versions. That way people can pick it up and play if they come across it and you shouldn't have to deal with creepy stuff. I hope you at least enjoyed building the mod and learning about how to balance AC factions/the limits of modability, it is a very cool project. If you end up feeling like SMAXifying the factions some day I'd welcome it into the faction pack.

Realm of Light, SMACified but poke'weenied version (it was a story plot point), is included with the scenario...

That's one, but iirc most of the others were not available in a SMAX form?

Yes.  It's the middle of the night where Kil is, but he'll likely be on to talk about it in roughly four hours.  I've been nagging him for a long time to do a human faction version of LE, but he says that's too far from what inspired him creatively.  I bet he'd be very willing to at least do PG versions compatible with non-LE SMACX, though.  He's a great guy.

And the Lord God said, 'Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language, and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech'.
