Only in this section with Council Room, Chiron News Network and Recreation Commons, and that's in all themes.  -And I'd change the one that goes to the root index to "Forum" if I could find where the menu names are stored.

...This theme doesn't display Shop inventory -not uncommon, and Valka considers that a serious matter in any theme- or member EC in the postbit.  Both are unacceptable in a default theme, and I haven't the foggiest about where to even begin to look into for fixing...

Uno raises the point that it's stupid that the first entry in the breadcrumbs/navigation line, "Alpha Centauri 2 Forum »", takes you to the Front Page, not the root.  I've been bothered by the same inconvenient thing; we have a Home button on the Menu, and that should be enough for what little regulars want to look at the news.

Scanning for the word "Community", seems like PortaMx might be setting it as the name. Try the PortaMx control panel?

As for the wide pages, I dunno what that's about. It's happening in firefox too. The width is set properly and firefox is drawing the elements at the proper size, it's just drawing an extra 10-20px on the right edge with nothing there.

Doesn't happen on chrome.

As for things happening differently to the default theme, that's a matter of all the templates in the theme directory. We should delete all the templates in the directory that aren't strictly necessary. Test deleting them, at least some of them do something.

Changing the spacing on the little tabs is easy enough, just inspect the element in chrome and then edit the appropriate css on the server. (Change the padding).

Removing the tabs will take slightly more work.

Do whatever you feel up to doing with confidence - delete away.

My point wasn't about things going differently in the default - it's that some lacks are acceptable, if marginally, in any given theme, but not the one the greatest portion of the regulars will be using.  If you could find a bit of code to make the Shop stuff display in postbits, and tell me where it should go, I'll be thrilled to do the drudgework in all the active themes.

Let me know what you plan to do yourself, and what you expect me to do.  I found that inspect element trick on my own, but I'm not familiar enough with the language(s) yet to find anything a fraction as easily as you clearly do...

...Still poking through the PortaMx settings, but I'm happy to report that I figured out how to get rid of the right sidebar on the Front Page, where it was hogging precious width space with two news columns...

I reduced the size of the tabs quite a lot. Can't be bothered to try and get it to display in-line with the other stuff right now.

I'm finding the whole website to be extremely slow to respond at the moment, though. Images especially are taking several seconds to load, more importantly, the html is taking on the order of a second to load and one of the css files is taking 22 seconds(!) to load.

SMF is nice for being very easy for non-experts to set up, but I really don't like how it's architected.

Incidentally, the number one most annoying thing for me is not having a fast way to access my subscriptions or recently viewed threads: I often return to threads I have posted in, but before others have replied in order to add another post of my own or just to re-read.

Number two most annoying is the page load times.

If I can find a link to view my subscriptions I'll probably add that to the template.

How do things look this morning, Draz?  I'm thinking leave SMAC the default for another five hours to make up for the downage.  Are you working on the Wiki today or wanna tweak the theme?  If we can get the Shop stuff to display in postbits, I think we may be done...

Sorry again about downtime. It's still not great. Server is very not happy with memory restrictions on it and it's hard to make any changes without introducing more downtime.

At the moment, I'm receiving time out errors when I try to post something. I've just tried to fix those now. Let me know if things improve for you (if you're receiving those error messages)

I've spun up a DO box and hope to get a straight port of the site working there, then I can do development work there and port it back and also increase likelihood that we'll actually migrate.

I'll try to fix the wiki configuration a bit just now, then I'll go back to the DigitalOcean stuff.

The internet connection where I am is a bit unreliable, so it's hard for me to tell if the server is much more unresponsive than usual. What's your perception?
