It's scary, how much I remember of this ridiculous story. The Doctor, Romana, and Romm Dutt were tied to some kind of torture rack, and the Doctor got them free by singing a weirdly-pitched note. The sound broke the window, letting enough rain in to make the ropes slacken so they could get free of the rack before their bodies were ripped apart.

The special effects were terrible in that story.

BUncle, you are a Tom Baker kind of Doctor Who fan, and you don't know the word "flapdoodle"?  :o

The Fourth Doctor uttered it when he was upset with someone - I don't remember who it was, or which story (I think it was one with Romana II), but the meaning was basically something like "BS kind of nonsense".
