I did a ping of NewAge and Davy, and New just turned up.  He is teh awesome, he's an energetic posting powerhouse, he gangs up on me with Green sometimes, and this is VERY good news.

A thought, Geo - you've been around the community from before God's dad was born; would there be any use in some manner of recognition for community Elders?  A badge or a membergroup (the way I can give custom user titles) for people like Petek, you, Maniac, Darsnan, and Mart?  Would that flatter anyone or make them happier at all?  Am I leaving any AC2 members out?  gwilly?

(Last year I was thinking of a subforum Senior clubhouse, Grampaw Has a Story, or Old Folks Home, where you Elderly could talk to each other and reminisce.  I'd love to get DarkCloud in something like that and get some community history written up.  Petek is too much a gentleman to agree with my admitting it was a dumb idea, but he did say there's no harm in trying...)

...He was never that involved in the community.  He made his AI patch, he shared it with us, and I believe his attitude is that that's that.

However, no harm could possibly come of PMing him a fan letter along the lines of what you just posted, and, who knows?, might do some good...

Alexander - hasn't posted at the Frog Pond in almost two months, and I'm more on his pooplist than he's on mine (for reasons too stupid to get into, and no actual big deal), but a genuine SMACer and a fascinating individual whom I'd love to get over here talking history.  Also, I miss him. 

Somebody PLEASE run over there and ping him with a URL and an invitation from you and me.  Excellent history-discussion threads in Rec Commons are sure to result.

I M serious.  Someone probably from Firaxis -claiming to be him and the management believed it- made a post promoting one of those Farmville-type Civ iterations a few years ago.  I figured "what the heck?" and pinged 'im with a link and a few nice words about how much his game meant to a lot of us, and rhetorically asking "Who doesn't enjoy being worshipped once in a while?".
