AI Stress Test
« on: August 05, 2013, 11:38:31 PM »
As promised, I will share with you guys one of my AI stress tests. This is not a true AAR, since I am not playing things.

I have a random small map and have placed some factions to duke it out.

Even though in scenario mode I have godlike powers, I will not interfere.

Also, a caveat: A true AI test must be done over MANY games. There are all sorts of random placement that can screw or overpower some factions

These are the factions:

Jarlwolf's Iron Regime.
Sigma's Procyon
Ete's Anihilators
Green1's Exterminatus
Kilk's Tomorrow faction
Network Node's Antimind
SMAX's Usurpers

I got some time today, so let me set up a folder and begin.

The two humans will begin a few turns before the Aliens arrive. They will need it.

The starting areas are nothing special, but I think the iron Regime's is a bit better. Tomorrow's has a few fungal towers that may hamper future expansion.

Iron Regime appears to be going for an early aggressive expansion, immediately going for a colony pod.

Colony pods away.

Iron regime looks to plop down near Sunny mesa.

Tomorrow is going to take it south and has got an alien artifact.

Aliens have arrived.

Does NOT look good for Iron Regime.

Antimind to east and Usurpers to North.

Tomorrow will have issues too as the Exterminatus has landed on thier continent!

Procyon starts in the sea between two continents.

Ete's Annihilators look at an isolated start.

I bet you AIs are happy Anihilators are way down there. they start with Locusts which are nasty early. I circled it.

Also, Iron regime: WTF????? Get that colony pod down NOW!!! You are going to need production...

Marr plops down a base and appears to be moving towards Antimind.

Exterminatus is fanning the countryside towards Tomorrow.

I guess Iron Regime is going to try to skirt south with that colony pod, but time is running out because there is going to be all out madness up there.

Isolated start is bad for the Annihilators, I swapped out their techshare for tech steal so they absolutely need someone to fight in order to avoid falling terribly behind in tech. My bet's on AntiMind taking out the two on its continent fairly early with worm rush. I'd guess the Exterminatus should wipe up tomorrow after a while, and Procyon expand safely for a while. Then probably Exterminatus will be the first to launch a proper attack on someone off continent (other than maybe some Annihilator Locusts picking things off).

Long term.. both AntiMind and the Annihliators will be hard for Exterminatus to invade due to their large Psi bonuses, and they likely will find it hard to keep pace with development. Not sure which way it'll go, but probably a long game? Maybe all the way to Transcendence by Exterminatus? Also, for a much faster playthrough, try giving one faction just two colony pods on isolated one square islands, switch view to them, turn omniscient view off, and hold down enter. You'll fly through turns and be able to reach the endgame without waiting forever, and can turn omniscient back on when you want to check up on the factions.

May be.. Ete...

Iron regime plops down in Monsoon Jungle with that pod.

LOTS of colony pods out by Exterminatus, Tomorrow, and Marr. Tomorrow seems to have issues with worms trying to eat pods.

Yeah, Ete...

Procyon is expanding  pretty rapidly.
