Fascinating, the revulsion reactions she provokes...

She turned herself into a freak so she could take selfies. Cosplay is one thing
this is another.

I look at it as a sort of performance art - she looked like a normal thin blonde when she won that national beauty pageant about ten years ago, and she's taken on shaping herself to be/look the way she wants to, something we all do to a lesser extent.  The results are interesting, largely for the passionate reactions she provokes.

She's not very different from a lady bodybuilder in that, even before she began seriously working out.

I don't think she realizes how much more appealing she comes off with the more normal looks.

-I actually believe that that feeds into the uncanny valley effect she provokes so strongly - her base appearance is so incredibly mundane -with her waist covered and little makeup, she's not even that remarkably skinny-looking by US standards- and modifying that to be exotic w/ the underlying off-the-shelf thin blonde looks still in the mix causes a cognitive dissonance.

I just can't work out how much of it is purposely intended to provoke, and how much is just flying saucer worship aesthetics...

BYTW - she started a Facebook page a few weeks ago that she seems to actually run herself.

(I like the braid.)

-And I figured what the heck, and posted on there today to suggest that since she clearly likes to play dressup pose for pictures, she could make a mighty fine Lara Croft.  We'll see is anything comes of it...

She wants to be an Amazon Warrior. Have you offered to fit her for fashionable chain-mail? :D

I really ought to make it first.  And the overseas postage for ten-or-so pounds of steel sorta makes that a non-starter...

I bet she could model the HECK outta some girly chainmail...

Mind you, if I was looking to set up in business making and selling chainmail, I would totally make something to my best guess of a fit and offer it to her gratis for the publicity and hot pics she'd subsequently, of course, post - same as high-dollar dress designers loaning/giving dresses to celebrities for the Oscars.  She'd go for it in a second, I bet, and I'd be able to charge REAL high for far more sets than I could ever make.

That extreme figure of hers was just MADE for cosplay - closer to a comicbook woman's figure than almost any model out there already doing it.  She would be an ideal model for this.

But can't type while I "knit", and I stopped watching TV years ago, and making the stuff takes forever and is tedious beyond words.  Not real interested in making a job of it, like Uno and the Halloween only a lot less invested in the first place.

Here's her current Instagram avatar:

The eye makeup could use toning way down, but it's entirely mundane excess.  Again, when she sports a conventional look, she's actually pretty and doesn't trigger the uncanny valley effect.  -Half of it's just that she's weird and does herself up weird, not the unnatural-looking waist.

Okay, this amuses me highly on an ironic level.  She has "Selfie Fridays" on her FB page -which is funny enough on its own- to get a look at her fans or something, and I needed to take a picture of a mail shirt I don't entirely remember making related to the chainmail-making project about to start, so --- what the heck.  I took one with my head left in.

Now, I'm having an outbreak of rosacea or something this summer, and I'm not in love with my own face to begin with, so putting it out there (fools' names and fools' faces/always seen in public places) with a nasty splotch on it on it was right out.

So here's the punchline - I just posted a shooped selfie for her.

A stranger with the suspicious handle of Ruslan Ivanov messaged me a hater video overnight, for some reason.
REAL VALERIYA LUKYANOVA !! Ukrainian Barbie exposed !!!

A lot of that isn't new information to me, and the conclusions don't necessarily follow.  Mostly of interest for a better look at her husband.

At what point is having gone through phases and being on a major kick to try to be what you want to be all that worthy of derision?  I don't think anyone ever tried to claim she wasn't odd.

Okay, gather 'round my friends, while BU relates a bit of webs comedy he really just lived through.

Got a 'friend' request from a total stranger on Facebook about an hour1/2 ago.  Green1 is the only person I ever reached out to that way (because trying to lure him back, and wanted to keep track of when he was on the book posting); everyone else on my friend list came to me, including sisko, the Texas redneck teenage girl who seemed to only be looking to raise money for a car, and a recent Indonesian who has too darn many 'friends'.  (You have to x out a lot of profiles taking up space atop your personal page and be aggressive about blocking friends of 'friend's when you don't like seeing their gross tattoos -or opinions or whatever- on your timeline.  It's an American I actually knew online pre-facebook I have to do this most with, and not Green.) Foreign-sounding name, but policy is say yes to everyone who asks because you never know, and never lose the future option of unfriending if needed.

So dude messages all friendly and starts chatting me up, which is a first for stranger 'friend's.  I see he's just liked Valeria's page, which I assume is how he found me, though I guess it could be the other way around, but why I post about it here, as Val-adjacent.

I smell a rat, but no harm in answering a few questions and chatting.  It's all good.  Then this:

Quote
dear I know ur very nice Lady ..anyways do u have any boy friend..??.. Hahaha :) :) :) :)
[I guess he missed when I earlier said white guy wearing chainmail in the Friday Selfie thread to his asking to see a picture, (which should have blown his game right there, had I not been distracted multitasking)...]
Quote
Oh.  The avatar - that's Taylor Swift painted green.  I'm a man, and straight.  I just thought the avatar was funny.

I'm a US American from the southeast. You?
[Several minutes pause...]
Quote
Okay... just mis under standing...haha
Quote
It's cool.

That's what I get for wearing a pretty celebrity for a portrait.
Quote
I'm from India ..okay now I understand... Well nice to meet u jimmy
Quote
Likewise.  :D
...
[radio silence since]

;lol ;lol ;lol ;lol ;lol ;lol ;lol ;lol ;lol ;lol ;lol

Serves me right for poking my face in in international strangeville looking like Orion Taylor Swift...

That sunny dome! Those caves of ice! And all who heard should see them there, And all should cry, Beware! Beware! His flashing eyes, his floating hair! Weave a circle round him thrice, And close your eyes with holy dread, For he on honey-dew hath fed, And drunk the milk of Paradise.
~Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Datalinks
