-Not because there's a floor in the shot, but because in a very poor country the hotels tend to go from VERY cheap to over-the-top lavish w/ little in between.  Am I wrong?  This one could be a Motel 6 in the US, looks small and unadorned, but basically clean.

Why not wood floor -as it looks in the pic, or tile/linoleum- for ease of cleaning, I do not know.

You're doubtless correct, but still sign of a quite small room, by US hotel standards.

-Stupid of us, IMO.  A room is way mostly just a place to sleep, for the main use, travelling overnight breaks.
