Sven cannot help it because he is OP.

Actually, though, It is not really  ;ulrik; but  ;roze;. Or, maybe like some ancient GOTM where Miriam and Cha Dawn had a love baby, a love baby of Roze and Sven! (CUSTOM FACTION TIME!)

Together, the child leads the P2P faction!

But, on a more serious note, how about some good hard science podcasts?

Planetary Radio can entertain you at least once a week. No pillage and burn or 1337 haxx0ring or credit card needed.

So, Ender's Game was supposed to be back in the library yesterday.  It's not to be, though.

So, my 8 hour drive tomorrow is going to have to cope with some of my standard means of dealing with this.  I pulled one book out off of a recommendation from the Halloween forum.  I'm a little dubious there, as some folks can tolerate more crap than even I, especially on books.  So, I picked up the King Kong full cast audio edition for either the drive home, or in case the first sucks.  That's sure to keep me entertained.

They do good work.

How about listening to all Smac(x)'s audio quotes while driving. Must cover at least an hour of your journey.  ;)

So...

Road trip coming up as we vacation down to the the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, and potentially through Zion's national park.

This means an 8 hour drive followed by a couple 2 hour drives and a 4 - 6 hour.

Difficulty:  there's an 8 year old 9 year old(this Friday) in the car.  Doesn't need to entertain HER, but needs to be 'safe' for her to hear.

Last trip had us listening to some shorter stories and worked well, so looking for things in the 2-3 hour range.  I have a ~3 hour story I could listen to again with no problems:  The Old Country  Highly recommended.

Don't think the rest of the family has heard it, so it works.

Last trip we knocked off The legend of Sleepy Hollow and The Most Dangerous Game

So, bonus points for things of that nature.

I still recommend the first third of To the Stars as read by the author, which I've actually listened to on a cross-continent drive.  Takei has a magnificent voice...

The Willows by Algernon Blackwood, if I can find a suitable copy.  There are 3 on libravox, but it's hit or miss if I'll like the readers.

How about the Redwall Series by Brian Jacques? I remember reading those as a child. I also know many of the earlier books exist in audio book version.

I've listened to Frankenstein as an audio book while traveling; what with the turgid Victorian style it was written in, it really does scan better read aloud by a competent actor...

* Random quote

The fungus has been Planet's dominant lifeform since about the time of the Lower Paleozoic on Earth. But when, once every hundred million years or so, the neural net at last achieves the critical mass necessary to become sentient, the final metamorphosis kills of most of the other life on the planet. It is possible that we humans can help to break this tragic cycle.
