It's not so much that good neighbors are gold -great if you can get them, but strangers who cause you no grief are okay- as that bad neighbors are something you really, really, really don't want...
Yes. The neighbors from a dark pit that can destroy the value in a neighborhood like a nuclear bomb. I have heard my fair share of stories from around my city.

Value?  Quality of life.

Value?  Quality of life.
I could argue that quality of life falls into the catergory of value for a neighborhood because it increases or decreases depending upon the quality of people that live in an area.

I do argue that first things should go first - and "value" frames it as if money mattered more.

I quantify people and money in the same area as value because the value of people often depends upon the qualities they can bring towards a relationship. The qualities of a person may not always translate directly into money, but the qualites of a person can have value outside a monetary context.

I may not understand the reference, but I now know the individual because of the internet. ;)

Anytime math would come up in a conversation, he'd be blocked instead of being able to say "that would be ten times as much" or something, because he was stupid.  Murray would say "Money, Ted.  Think it in money!" because Ted was greedy, and then he'd be able to figure it right out.

Ah. I can observe commentary on the materialistic greed that runs in our culture.

Yes.  Money is not happiness, and happiness is worth more.

I saw the alien phalanx coming toward us, and I calmed my mind as Kri'lan had taught me. And what I saw next to the phalanx was a shadow regiment, half-formed from the resonance around them. I cursed the aliens... with power like that, each one could fight as many, and I thanked Planet for sending us the betrayer.
