Bah Humbug.
« on: November 19, 2012, 04:22:43 PM »
As BU knows...

I LOATHE Christmas.

Mostly because it means I have to cope with my family...which is not exactly easy.

While I normally engage in the Black Friday competetive shopping extraveganza, my first rant of the season is that I refuse to be heading out in mid evening Thursday.  Whoever pushed the sales opening to 8 PM should be taken out back and shot.  There's a real possibility I won't be going out at all this year.  There were a few things in ads I would like to purchase, but we're going to just try for them online instead.

Gazing into Dec, we are hosting both families on Christmas Eve.

My annual breakfast for my family, and dinner for hEt's.  Normally this is at her mom's, but since she is going through chemo for cancer, we get to play host.  It also means I'm cooking half of Thanksgiving dinner this year (though that will be at her brother's place).

Christmas eve is going to be a real pain, 2 big meals to cook in the same day.   ???

We went down to the city's light display opening night.

Like everything this time of year, way too crowded.

Anyhow, all the local businesses have a little booth that they decorate, and you walk around looking at them.  Or just play with my new lens.  You get the range from traditional

To whatever whimsy strikes the folks in charge.

The new lens can do a lot, but it can't stop kids making faces.

Talia loved it.

Other than framing, Kyle even did half decent with the new lens.

Considering going back to the church thingy to get some good shots.

We are all aware that the senses can be deceived, the eyes fooled. But how can we be sure our senses are not being deceived at any particular time, or even all the time? Might I just be a brain in a tank somewhere, tricked all my life into believing in the events of this world by some insane computer? And does my life gain or lose meaning based on my reaction to such solipsism?
