The Recipe box

Alright, I give up.

NO ONE has a good potato soup anymore.  Anyone have a good recipe?

They've all gone ultra creamy/rich flavor, the kind I like have a bit of a bite to them, touch of spice.  Used to be a great one across the street, but new management went all sissy.

Alright, gearing up for my making most of Turkey day for the in-laws.

Most of it's straight forward enough.  Taters, gravy, etc.

These folks normally head out and buy a couple of Marie Calenders pies.  That's not flying with me in charge.

Thinking gotta go with Apple.  I made up a HELL of a pie last year in my first attempt (no recipe and I didn't write it down, idiot).  Wouldn't mind having it again.  If I can find THE apples.  Brought them home with me from San Diego last year.  Not sure if I can find them around here.

Or Pumpkin.  But I'd want to do a REAL pumpkin, not canned.  Haven't checked if my 2 Cinderella's survived this long or not.  (french eatin' pumpkin no good for carving)

Lemon was the traditional pie in my house growing up, but I have been stonewalled in my attempts to get the recipe.  (probably because mom has been an utter failure at making this pie lately)  I did write down the ingredients way back when I was in a highschool cooking class, but not the method, and I recall it was awful tricky there and if you did it wrong it went to hell, which explains mom's problems.  It got so bad DAD has been attempting it (his mom's recipe, of which there are at least 5 versions I know of as she "memorized" recipes, not write them down).

I'm kinda wanting to resurrect this, just because it would be the second of Valentine's (Grandma) recipes I'll have saved.
