Momma was pretty much recovered the next day.  She's still being cautious about things like pushing a wheelbarrow load of firewood indoor, leaving that to me, but got up on a stool and changed a lightbulb in the kitchen around sunset.  She's 80.5.

I made a conscious decision long ago not to hasten her aging by doing too much for her she's still able to manage.  It looks exactly like I'm lazy, but that's only part of it...

Oddly, we were at the grocer just this weekend and there was a 70+ yr old woman there with a personal cart (not the store's) outside the store, loading up her groceries into it.  We watched as she started slowly making her way across the lot.  She'd walked to the store and was on her way back home with her groceries.  Slowly.  Carefully. 

It sparked that discussion, do you help?  Or is that the activity/routine keeping her living?

My dad, also from '40, climbed a ladder up the to 3th floor roof gutters to clean them out. Just sayin'. Scares my mom halfway to death each time he does that.
Last year or the year before he even climbed the roof itself to make some repairs.

Geo, I kinda rode Momma for many years about falling risks - then she had a bad fall that ended in a bionic shoulder joint, and I feel I no longer need to harp.  You might want to point out about how bad he could break and how slow he'll heal if at all...


Uno, I think you ask her/offer.  -That time, not to take on the chore ongoing, which is different, and I do know my mother's health, and one ought to be gallant to old ladies one doesn't know.

I don't live there, so its pointless to harp about it the few times I  visit them.Physically, he's still quite fit though.

And I did not actually know that Rusty was Navy, as small a surprise as that is - I don't recall him saying he'd served, and never wondered.  I guess I'm the one who's stupid.

How about the cases in the extended family?

Everybody survived. The maskless ones seem to have suffered most. That might have something to do with them getting a larger viral load.  Well, a younger obese in-law who wore a mask suffered a lot as well.

As for me I've stopped recording my pulse/ O2/ and temp  3X/day after 7 consecutive days when my highest temp was 98.6 once.  I got my first symptoms the 5th day after exposure, and had symptoms for 14 days total. Mostly like having a cold and body aches. Body aches that hurt like a tooth, so it interfered with my sleep. I recommend you avoid the Rona if possible. While I seem to be able to taste sugar/salt/bitter/sweet/sour/& fat, I can't smell well at all.  Some of the others have a lingering impaired sense of smell, too. I was the last to recover.

I went to COSTCO today, the first I've been out and about since I got tested on New Year's Eve.

I'm starting to get past my contempt for the people that needlessly/selfishly risked my life. I'm starting to tell myself that getting Rona and surviving will improve my chances of surviving should I get it again. That it's not the worst outcome considering the backlog in getting the vaccine out. Whether or not that's true, I do better when I let go than when I stew and stress over the past.

I let myself be tested this morning.
Having an increasing headache since early this week, with a rare sneeze or dry cough throughout the day triggered my treshold for calling in.
No loss of smell or taste as far as I can tell.
The doctor told me I have a good chance for seeing my result in the evening, but I have a sick leave prescription for two days already.

The "don't take NSAIDs" thing is legit. Make sure you have Tylenol stocked.

NSAIDs cut through the headaches and pain pretty well, but also made the chest issues noticeably worse.

Oh, and trying to work through it is specifically bad. Bed rest, mandatory. Do as little as humanly possible. The virus damages your lungs and organs, so you want to avoid giving it any help via exertion and stress.

Anything I put into my system also went out ASAP, not even manageable by Pepto-Bismol. So lots and lots of apple juice to keep your electrolytes and hydration up.
