looking for help to install some custom factions from this site

i am very interested in trying out these factions, but i do not understand how to put them in game since they dont come with the pic files.. its all one big page on faction  area
any help would be appreciated.

i have no speciffic atm, i was in custum faction page with those 164 faction .  just couldnt find any where to download all the filles on any of them.

Well, when you click on a specific Downloads entry, it'll take you to the download page (some of which have illos).  Look for the line right under the blue bar with the title - there should be a blue filename that shows an underline when you put the cursor on it.  Click on that to download.

SO - place the custom faction files in the root SMACX folder.  (Default address: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri\).

Here's the section to look for in alphax.txt (almost at the bottom):

-You want to do that same setup as the official factions, editing in Notepad.  The term to be entered is usually the same as the filename, but it's actually looking for a line in the faction.txt.

For example, the top of Believers faction .txt, believe.txt, looks like this:

-That term on the last line after the # is what you want to enter on the line under #CUSTOMFACTIONS, up to seven custom factions at a time - 21 if you're willing to just replace official factions.


Let me know if there's any problems -there usually are when someone's installing factions the first time- and I'm sure we can troubleshoot it...

this is the place i been looking at and still dont see a place to dl the pics , just the alpha txt file.

-It's a bigger file than our Downloads handles well, so you may have to try more than once to get a good copy.

i am not able to open the file, would you know what program i need to do it?

7Zip - if you downloaded a good copy...
