he had good reason to believe that Civ6 will be much better than 5

Not entirely sure that says much.

I have to agree with you.

If I were cynical, I could say that they can easily read at CFC what the audience wants to hear, and turn that into talking points, that jobs and careers depend upon advance sales, and there is a lot of pressure to sell now and deliver later, another STEAM feature.

Most of you here should already know my belief about 2K and getting too involved with studio's dev cycles.  That should say enough.

Pragmatic action in my case is to wait it out as well.  I've wishlisted the game in Steam, but I am in absolutely no hurry whatsoever to press the buy button.  It's only a couple months between launch and the Xmas Steam sale and bets are on it'll be at 10% off for that.  And I don't see the point of buying the "deluxe" edition when all it really gives you is the DLC season pass.  Save your money and buy the DLC on special.

He was definitely one of the ones who felt traumatically burnt by 5...

A lot of us were.  And quite simply, it wouldn't take much to be better than 5.  So like Uno says, him saying it doesn't really mean much.
The most worthwhile thing is to try to put happiness into the lives of others. - Lord Baden Powell

Oh, the smart play is to wait two years and buy the gold edition or whatever; worst bugs fixed, probably way lower price, etc.

Civ V was the only game I've ever seen where the AI got worse when the released the expansion for it.
It went from a game where the AI would at least do something to a totally passive AI unless the ai knew it could beat
you. So the AI did nothing. And worse Beyond Earth used the exact same AI.

Hey. I still got around 600 hours of entertainment for my $99.  Plus I have the art book and the pewter figurines. I actually liked the Art Deco watercolors. As for the figurines they are nice ones, I wished they reminded me of a game I actually loved. They are on the shelf doing sentinel duty, to remind me not to get carried away with enthusiasm. Now if there were Civ III or IV figurines...or Pirates! figurines, that would be something!

Yeah, why not?

They're leaving money on the table. I could see myself buying a lot of them.

As it is I've got 6 guys. One looks more like a gladiator than a legionnaire. His sword is too big and his shield is too small. I've got a longbow, the only unit with a 3 tile range, to remind me that he could shoot across the English Channel on the Earth map. I've got the Mech, which reminds me that I could never stand to play the game long enough to that unit.

But as far as I know, they're still the same silver white color they were when they were new, but they are rarely handled. The cleaners have probably done more with them than I have.
