How well do you adjust to daylight savings?
« on: March 14, 2016, 01:02:44 PM »
I'm not sure how much of it is lack of adjustment on my part and how much is based off the fact that Kyle had prom on Saturday, thus I was waiting up for him till midnight on the night before the switch was made.  But, I feel like crap today, and have already had to climb 12 flights of stairs...

I'd comment, but I haven't adjusted yet... Too out of it to make that work as a joke.

I don't think I've ever noticed it. My sleep schedule has been so poor for a long time that an hour here or there hardly seems significant

Incidentally, I just corrected my forum time display by going to my profile>Look and Layout>Time Offset:>(auto detect).  -That last doesn't always work, BTW, but did this time - and easy enough to change the time offset from our default GMT by an hour if it hadn't...  For EDT, my local time, -4 is the correct offset while daylight time lasts.

I'm wondering WHY we still have Daylight savings to be honest.

Working in Arizona for 3 years (does not have daylight savings), it was rather nice.

Sure, it was getting dark around 5-6 each night, which was initially odd, but there, you WANT the sun down so it can cool off.

We could benefit from some of that in the summers here as well, as would much of the south.

I would tend to favor daylight time year-round, cause the getting dark so early in winter right after the time change is extremely oppressive.  The poor kids in school don't have much time outside on the warm days, and neither does their dad with an office job...

Ugh.

It's like losing an hour of sleep every night at first.

Mostly I get up whenever I feel rested. As it happens, this week has stuff going on/appointments to be kept. More bad timing than poor planning.

There is increasing talk about keeping Daylight savings time all year long. Farmers tend to favor Standard time. Golfers go with Daylight Savings. According to the gov, there are energy savings in Daylight Savings.

I guess my issue is I hate getting up while it's still dark. The further north you live, the more that happens.

But, if I can't decide what/which time we'll be using, I would at least support making a decision and sticking with it all year.

As I said on CBC.ca, it doesn't matter here if kids go to school at 7 am or 8 am; it's still dark outside in December. And the closer you get to the solstice, the darker it gets, to the point where twilight starts at 4 pm.

That said, I hate Daylight Saving Time. My sleep clock is out and it takes weeks to adjust.

And I've still got several clocks to reset.

I also hate Daylight Saving. But my one analog clock is accurate once again.

Wow.  I usually get around to synching my bedroom clock in under two months...

That's about my normal timeframe but not this time. I don't rely on it very often and it's not where I can easily reach it.

Same.  I usually remember to subtract or add an hour in my head.

Now when there's been a power interruption, the blinking gets pretty annoying before I get around to doing something about it...

We hold life to be sacred, but we also know the foundation of life consists in a stream of codes not so different from the successive frames of a watchvid. Why then cannot we cut one code short here, and start another there? Is life so fragile that it can withstand no tampering? Does the sacred brook no improvement?
