Well, my grandfather emigrated to Canada ~90 years ago, so it's probably a generational thing.

Thats the reputation I've heard that they have. To be blunt I've heard worse.

I have very emphatic opinions on some issues, and absolutely no patience with people who tar all feminists with the "feminazi" or "evil feminists" brush. I've even been called a "witch" for being a feminist. So I hope that's not where this conversation is likely to lead.

The fact is that some women do get rather obnoxious when it comes to things like having doors held for them, and it's ridiculous. If a male of any age holds a door for me, I smile and say "thank you" - making especial effort with the kids who do this, because how will they learn manners if people don't set the example of the proper response to a courteous gesture?
