Right.  Native/local life just makes sense, if you like the look of it - why plant something you'll have trouble keeping alive?  Mylochka has been doing some planting on those lines in her yard for years.

Her front yard.

I'm sure I posted this before, but there's some local tradition behind rock walls - our hometown was settled by Piedmont/Savoy immigrants, used to getting the most out of farming very hilly country.

My biggest challenge is actually losing the grass.

Not for making the front yard look nice, mind you, but you lose that versatility of a blank canvas for Halloween.  And, come what may, if nothing else, the pumpkin party will be returning when safe to do so, even if my interest in spending months building things departs.

Well, your bag is making things - it's fun to put on a show, I'm sure, but just making things w/ no deadline sounds more relaxing.  It's nice to have extra motivation in place, and a deadline to keep you moving, but I don't think you're all that different from me in that avoiding stress is excellent.  Just make neat things.

-I still think you should build a cinderblock/stucco step pyramid in back - double as a shed and maybe a possible storm shelter...

Oh, like I said, I've been more than satisfied just rolling that making things into cooking to the point where I can foresee getting a little more leisurely with the Halloween stuff.

And to say cooking, I've always been a pretty good COOK, but the last 2 years have been a MASSIVE upgrade in that department, and I frankly enjoy meals that take all day.

Cooking is not one of life's more onerous burdens, no - and there's art/craft to it, not just cake decorating.  I can't say I enjoy it, but yeah; not a big chore.  Most of my dishes are simple things that you put on for two hours of more, and leave cooking low.

Lots of ants living in the rock wall?  ;lol

No, my aunts both have their own houses - though the one I was talking about -the one you met- we're probably going to have to take in one of these days; she's getting forgetful.

Here's what aunt Pokey did with the sun and moon casts I gave her.

-Taken yesterday afternoon by Mylochka.  I've asked for a not-terrible angle on the moon, and closeups of both so you can make out details of the painting.

I've always thought of the moon above the sun. Seems like your womens have other thoughts on the matter.  ;cute

I can't even get behind displaying them outside - they won't last long, even protected by a thick coat of acrylic paint...

She did do a much nicer paint job than you can tell in that shot.

Well, without a James Webb-level of resolution, we definitely can't see on such a small shot.
