Some ornamental bush, unless you mean in the first, third and last two pics above - which looks to me like actual corn stalks put out for decoration.

The stone building in the background, I attended sixth grade in the very last year it was a school; it's been re-purposed as a cultural community center thing, having a passably large theater in the center, and I believe Geo will attest that the whole structure looks sort of a huge castle from the road.

Now my high school looks like the saucer section of the fake Enterprise - though it was built ten years earlier.  Wouldn't mind seeing that razed to the ground; no windows and no walls.

Are you going to exaggerate the eyes/mouth on this?  I think it's begging for a caricature treatment all the way through.

I was planning to emphasize a crescent shape to the eyes in the trimming, but nothing in mind for the mouth.

I don't think it was mormons.  It's on the national register as a historic example of art deco style...

In general, "Ogden" is a big clue of very limited Mormon influence here in Utah.  For ages, Ogden was 'the other side of the tracks' where all the heathens lived.  It predates the Mormons, and was a railroad town more than it was a Mormon pioneer town.  Renown for prostitution, bootlegging, and other shenanigans, one of the local madams famously bought Brigham Young's carriage on his passing to ride it around Ogden.  At one point the faithful were banned from so much as shopping here. 

This didn't really start to change till after WWII, and the temple not built til 1972.  With Ogden high dating to the mid-30s.  googling the architect does yield one ward building on his resume, but mostly heathenistic Ogden landmarks.

I'm still very slowly working on thinking out how I want to build the Sun.  I think it's going to be pretty shallow/flat...

I declared the Moonface base ready Thursday, but I need to make another batch of paste, and current events upsetting me and trying to work out the Sun are distracting me and slowing things way down...
