I like the effect around the tip of the muzzle.  Don't know how one would achieve a "hairy" effect with paint--best not to risk spoiling it by trying, eh?

I guess so.

A close examination of the actual dog -or at least the pics I've posted- reveals that the borders between the various colors could have used just a smidge of blur; but the black fading into the white, as you note, is really masterfully-done.

Reworking my 'green man' mask is on my to-do list.  It's really showing it's age after....5 years, 4 of those wearing it.  As my cold weather go-to.

Yeah; JohnnyDevil is what I'm posting on Facebook lately, and I find that revisiting those pics really pleases me.  Like, there's the least frustration associated with the making and maybe the best execution of the initial idea.  Probably my favorite creation of last year.

-Too bad it's kinda small for a grown man's face...

As I said before, I've been posting pics of JohnnyDevil in the making, on the JKStudio Facebook, lately, and Sunday, Mylochka sez to me, she sez "I ought to paint that."

Next day, I had it laying out for her when she came by.  She asked me how I'd like it painted, and I said "Red devil, black horns and beard.  Like a mask when we were kids."  -Not just for you, Uno, but because my tastes in decoration run a lot more literal-minded than hers.  I am trying to work up energy to make a second mask for her to indulge her busy-decorative-and-possibly-not-thematically-connected tastes on.  I brewed up a new batch of paste not two hours ago...
