This is everything.  -There are some plaster figurines in the playhouse, but no sign of mold or crumbling, so I haven't evacuated yet, because triage.

Can we talk about how freaking awesome that mask second in from the right, top row is?

We can, but I can accept no credit - it's a straight-up copy of a big doll-like store-bought mask, so craft on my part, not art.  She did an interesting paint job, didn't she?

...I'll get you better/closeup pics of the big dollface today.  She did a crackle finish on it, and you've inspired me to the idea that it ought to have the mold left on under a spray-on varnish coat...

This is one of the ones from the later Texas days -I believe it was considered finished- that had the edges/shape suffer from storage/moving, and I no longer recall whether I did repairs/reinforcement during our stilborn run at online sales a few years ago, or last November - but probably the later, since it was in the playhouse for her attentions along with the new stuff.

The crackle coat suffered damage during the repair.  I don't think she ever decided how to fix it.

Now it strikes me that it may not need to be fixed.

The gaps and the mold are really in line with what the crackle suggested in the first place...

GK - do note that there's a mention of a mask being for sale buried in the middle of the very long latest page - and nothing else whatsoever at this point to indicate that we intend to sell anything.  You just knew going in what the ultimate purpose is.  Right now it's just a kind of art blog or something.  I want to make all the bait attractive and all that - but this stuff is probably never going to have any hard-sell; just a link up top leading to somewhere stuff's for sale, once we get that organized.  -And of course the home page won't be coy about it, at that point.  We wanna have us a classy place, there.

When you get ready for sales, take a look into google/bing/yahoo search engines and how to promote your site.  I know folks who have gone from basically zero to overworked sales just by getting the search engines to put their stuff higher up on various search results.

But that's the thing.  The broken doll is in fashion.  But not like THAT.  They are all drab grayscale things that don't look natural at all.

You must need to refresh the other pages - I tested everything for the banner hyperlink last night in MSEdge before I posted, and this morning I've checked in IE, Firefox and Chrome.  IE and FF didn't even require me to refresh any pages.


I do know a little something about SEO.  Google "custom factions alpha centauri" -for years there was no need to mention AC, but hits for Minecraft stuff seems to have taken over page one now- and I got my own custom factions site as the first hit.  -A thread here at AC2 was second - a page on our AC wiki was third.

One thing we need to do is have a links page, and arrange link exchanges, though as yet I only have Uno's site, the art gallery, and the site hawking Mylochka's book in mind.  We've got a Facebook page, and I'm trying to post something new every day and encouraging 'friends' to 'like' it to get the word out.  We're going to have a YouTube channel -but that's Mylochka's bailiwick, so it's not happened yet, but she makes decent videos- and that covers two of the three really ubiquitous innerwebs sites, and I don't see a pretext to try to get on Wikipedia.


The most useful class I have ever taken was high school Graphics -printing- and I've got two college degrees.  Mylochka is Dr. Mylochka, and she says the same.  I'm sure all the tech for preparing offset printing plates was hopelessly, hopelessly, out of date by the time I was halfway through college, but the darkroom stuff, combined with video production classes from my broadcasting degree, gives me serviceable training in photography - and the early exposure to the principals of layout and design -Mr. Cooper hadn't even been to college- have been endlessly useful, from the forum you're on now, to the JK site, to every time we need to make invitations to a family reunion.
