Well I just broke down and put shoes on and went somewhere by myself -besides a cigarette run; I don't wear shoes for that except when it's really cold- for only the second time in slightly over a year.

The table cloth says a lot about the booth.  It isn't symmetrical.  It just looks sloppy.  If care isn't made to that simple of a little detail, then what kind of attention to detail was put into the crafts?  i suspect that little things like that are a part of the problem as well.

I dunno - at the center of it all -our involvement in the gallery, that is- is my brother's rustic carpentry, and the asymmetrical bit of red-checked cloth is sorta 'bark-left-on'.  I suspect, too, that it's something to do with the questionable condition of the table underneath.  When I was setting out the three rows of candles in front of the riser, I noticed there's something bumpy and uneven going on under there...

I wasn't made privy to those details, of course, just like everything else.

Well, we talked at great length this afternoon about the art-selling website, and finally came up with an approach to the look of the banner to go atop each page; the bared logo she did up ages ago back in Texas over a dark slightly rumbled sheet texture.

-Any thoughts about square v. rounded corners, vivid blue background v. subdued?

-Are these wide enough?

Rounded.  Top background.  Not huge fan of the font on the JK

Not big enough for a banner, no, *mobile considerations need to be made on the website side, though, so if it's not automagically formatted to mobile, they might be fine.

I think it mostly lack direction.  There's nothing to draw the eye anywhere there.  The blue tablecloth pops, when it's what you really want to hide.

Other than the cloth, the chair tends to jump out.  I'd personally take a huge black cloth (admittedly I have a thing for black, other neutralish colors would work) and cover that back wall, drape it over the table in one piece, and all the way to the floor to make one continuous backdrop to then place your pieces.  The tan and checkered cloth can work over that fine, but the uniform back would make the items stand out more.

Don't even know where to start with displaying the masks, given what you have to work with there.

The phone stuff is an utter mystery to me...

Mylochka likes rounded -I think that's a lock- and the vivid background.  Subdued looks a bit better on a black page, which is what I considering going with to match the formal presentation pics she's done in the past...

That's a good idea with the cloth covering everything in back.

If we were staying, things would be different and I'd be desperately trying to get a tiny fairy for the Buster display at the corner - it's dumb not to put a name and a face on our collective.  -But we're gone when the booth fee runs out, and I'd be up against two or three levels of "don't care" and "No" if I was interested in dying on that hill when the war's already lost and nearly ended.

I think everything is fixable - but I can't take over the gallery by myself, and I can't fix my butthole family - and I've no interest in making the effort on the former w/o any support from anyone, not least 'cause the gallery's patron is the bad kind of Republican, crazy stubborn for all that he genuinely means well, and he's definitely part of the problem.

For sure, I need to go to web sales, where I have infinitely more control of presentation.

Buster and her dad are more-or-less dropping out -he's got a preacher job now and she's starting high school Monday, and they're both too busy- so just Mylochka and I simplifies things enormously, and that's why we're dropping the family art name and going back to JKStudios.  So the toddler Buster display, alas, was for nothing unless it gets a lot of traction before the end of October - and by God, if it does and we stay, I'm going to have to be allowed more say in things and kept informed, or I'm out anyway.

I spent a lot of time converting to a mobile friendly theme not too long ago.  How are you building the website?

Right now, trying to nail down some basic unifying design elements - we're probably going to have the sales pages on Wix using templates that won't let us do as we like, because the JavaScript stuff is over our tech paygrade, and the home page and all the bait how-to stuff and picture galleries hosted here- and making pages in KompoZer...

I'm going to emphatically agree with Uno about a black background, because so much of this crafty stuff is beige or thereabouts, and black is the best contrast for that.

These turned up on the kitchen counter yesterday.

I don't think they're quite finished, because I don't see the gloss finish she usually paints on last.

In shape, they're pretty good likenesses of Goblin and Moses, which is a coincidence; the masks were made in November when they were toddlers...

Like the kitty masks.  Not in love with the flowers.  I think one painted that porcelain not quite white color with accents on the nose/mount areas to highlight that work, and a Victorian styled simple design in red or maybe a bright blue...

Afraid I can't help with that website stuff.  Not what I've used.  I swear finding a good theme that lets you do what you need is a full time job.

This porcelain type color base.

This type-ish design in a bright color.  Maybe not quite this busy.

Ah - well, it's a collaboration, and I take the decorative stuff she gives me.  I don't think going all VanGough on the kittehz is a whole universe of appropriate and good, either, but I'm really thrilled she actually painted some masks on festival day, and feels like she has her painting groove back a little...

When beholding the tranquil beauty and brilliancy of the ocean's skin, one forgets the tiger heart that pants beneath it; and would not willingly remember that this velvet paw but conceals a remorseless fang.
