Definitely reading more canine there.  Muzzle length and width, or building out the cheeks more to cover the width.

Yeah - some of that's the shape, too, which shouldn't taper so smoothly back into the rest of the face.  It's just a roughed beginning, and that part's going to have to be made smaller.

Little more rounded on the top brow, and you could be right into furry territory with that.

Baked and outer layer of paper drying.  After supper, the first layer of latex...

It's sure to be a colossal pain getting masks off the kitten form, because of the ears, so I'm still adding layers of the latex cover, for strength and thickness.  Might be tomorrow before I can begin making masks...

Another thing I'm working on -this is new today- is making a solid sculptamold (hereinafter refered to as "spitwad") base cast from the big face I've already been working with.

-I've always intended to do a modification with a pronounced jaw for the Captain character in comedia del arte'...

Try mixing some drywall mud into the spitwad.  Had really good luck with that.

I had something like a handful of plaster left - I added that to the water before the pulp.  We'll see if that helps, because spitwad is a pain to carve...

-Incidentally, for a mold, I simply made a thickish paper mâché mask w/o holes and lined it with latex as I always do - it seems to have worked...

I've had a rush project drop into my lap.

There's this art galley/artists' collective in town that Buster's Daddy has gotten us involved with -part of why I've gotten active again with this suddenly- that's doing the Christmas window decoration Friday, and Mylochka wanted to do up a couple of mini-masks to hang on the tree.  -This is an old spitwad cast from a store-bought mask that I can't find anymore, pictured about life-size.  Something else to put a couple of layers of latex on before I can knock out some masks...

All that white didn't much want to photograph.

I could see a bunch of...not sure the term for that type mask....

female masquerade types.  Done up painted like poinsettias (spelling) instead of the more traditional feathers looking good on a tree

Reindeer ish ones could work too...

In my circles, a straight up POTO tree would do well.  (phantom of the opera) with masks and roses.  This would work well in a window box if you themed everything to it as well.

DO NOT underestimate the possibility of going Nightmare before Christmas.

Lock, Shock, and Barrel masks.

In an appropriately themed box...(license issues might come into play however)

Again, that one's pictured about life-size.  It's doll-scale, not human.

-However, we do have one or two appropriate ones to work with.  As you say, there's a lot of possibilities...
