It's a real shame that Tolkien is dead (according to wikipedia)
So, how are the hobbit movies? And books? I'll probably read them soon, as my sister owns a copy of "The Hobbit," but I'd like to see opinions.
Everyone else seems to love them.

I've only seen enough of them to know it's all wrong.

You expect someone born in 1892 to still be alive? ;lol

During moments like these, when the Rec Commons and Council Room are quiet, I generally listen to music.
Which is a good excuse to give the rec commons "Music" thread more activity.
And in turn, I can up my post count. Which means I'll get EC. Which means I can buy a sticky.

I have to ask, am I the only one that edits his posts about 5 times within 2-3 minutes of posting them?
I do that a lot.

Yes.

You're the only one.

Yes.

You're the only one.
That is what I thought.
I always seem to notice flaws - but only when I see the post appear on the page.

I do that a lot.

You're probably the only one; I rarely edit-after-posting even twice.

The beauty of online homework: I can stay reasonably focused while still refreshing this page every few minutes.

I've decided if I ever learn to script, the first serious thing I'm ever going (attempt and likely fail) to make is a faction-graphic-template generator.
-Insert leaderhead: Automatic crop.
-Insert base: Automatic crop, dead center of base box, auto shields and water platform (Actually I think this would be pretty difficult to do)
-Insert logo, automatic color increase/decrease for the smaller ones and automatic crop.
-2 and 3 files generated automatically
And it all saves in one nice folder.
That, my friends, would be a faction artist's dream.

Hey, BU, do you like GIMP or Photoshop better?
I mean for doing the kind of stuff here. Like editing leaderheads, making faction art, image rehashes
-I've never used Photoshop. I don't plan to get it, but I wanted to know your opinions. Plus I'm only just starting to know the ins and outs of GIMP.
All of your tutorials are for GIMP, which helps.

I got my start with an old version of Photoshop -but it's an airplane control panel in complexity, and I did all I could in MS Paint, pasting over and using Photshop to save, mostly, at first- but I lost the use of it in an upgrade a few years ago, and have become far more comfortable with GIMP, which is why most of the tutorials shifted to that.  It's also better for animating .gifs compared to the versions of PS I'm familiar with.  I did finally get a version of PS that runs on my current machine, but don't have to use it much.

Incidentally, regarding you saving up enough fake forum money to buy a stickie - try to pile up 500 and deposit in the bank; once you get enough in your account, the interest adds up.  I've deposited many tens of thousands as I went, but most of my billions are interest...

I have 659 EC in the bank currently.
It'll kind of suck to have to restart completely once I buy the stickie though, I'm thinking I should wait till 2.5k before I buy it.

It's going to take a lot of posts like these to keep up with and surpass BU.
I mean, I have to catch up with his 20-something PPD and then maintain something higher.
Spamming awesome videos is not very honorable either.

Superior training and superior weaponry have, when taken together, a geometric effect on overall military strength. Well-trained, well-equipped troops can stand up to many more times their lesser brethren than linear arithmetic would seem to indicate.
