How to get Screenshots in GOG.com version of SMAC/X?

Hi all.

I'm trying to get screenshots of my SMAX game and failing miserably.

I have the GOG.Com Planetary Pack version of the game, which by default disables Alt-Tab as an option.

I can use the Crtl-Alt-Tab option but doing so seems to keep the same old colour settings from SMAX (256 is it?) so everything looks off, it also fails completely to screenshot anything, resulting in a shot the right size but completely black.

I have tried adding the "Directdraw=0" option to Alpha Centauri.ini suggested elsewhere, this allows me to Ctrl-Alt-Tab with the colours looking OK but doesn't actually allow me to select the editor to paste the image.  It does however take the screenshot correctly, it just means I need to exit SMAX completely to paste it.

BOTH methods result in a crash of terranx.exe if I open the windows (7 home) start menu.

in both cases I opened GIMP before launching terranx.

I'm hoping someone here can help me.

My solution is to run a browser in windows 8 app mode and switch from app to desktop mode whenever I want to paste something to imgur.

If you don't have win 8 your options are:
1. wait a few days/while. PlotuxRedux has a graphics patch which should fix this and let you play it in windowed mode.
2. Investigate game wrappers and virtualization (DosBox).
3. close alpha centauri every single time you take a screenshot.

Right. I had the same issue, you'll have to go with one of the three other options.

Waiting sounds easiest , does PlotuxRedux have a site or thread for the mod?

Personally I use an external program called Greenshot with hotkeys as my print screen button is broke.

Personally I use an external program called Greenshot with hotkeys as my print screen button is broke.

Unfortunately the screenshots with that are almost completely blank as well :/
