He is, he definitely is.  I remember making that one.

I just think I went overboard before, trying to make the techs last me as many days as I could flog out of them.  There's a couple of variations I can think of to do with Tech082 up there, but not really any good-looking ones.

Hey, everybody missed an opportunity - when I recently uploaded all the SMAC(X) avatars I've ever made, I included 28 tech ones that I'd made at 100x100, before it struck me that when users without big avatar privileges put them on and the forum resized them -my reason for going big,; the forum would just shrink them- any transparent backgrounds would be ruined. But these -all the variations from tech 075 through the first of tech 81- could put on from the User CP gallery by anyone, without any resizing or associated problems.  In fact there were also two techs and something in symbols that I neglected to resize at all - when my test DL put one on, only 2/3rds fit in the postbit column.

Everything's fixed, and while I was messing with that stuff, I completed the set of techs.  Everything but blank dummy tech087.   I'm going to start on the Sercret Project icons next, though I haven't decided whether to put them in techs or symbols.

So I hereby announce a contest:  find a SMAC(X) avatar -I had nothing to do with anything else thus far installed- in the User CP gallery that needs fixing bad, put it on, and post in this thread to taunt me.  (Duplicates don't count - I'll clean those up one of these days, but it's not a high priority.)

The prize is getting to taunt me.

We are considering awarding some big avatars to a few deserving people, so be sure to be active posting and adding content - and showing us you can keep it up long-term.  Loyalty gets noticed, and should be rewarded.

I honestly don't care for this system; EC inflation is bound to happen. One should also denote Spammage will result in BANs.

It's kinda like Frontier Economy. Its useful and all, but mostly during early game (until BU finishes overunning CGN with his Impact Rover Rush)

If you want some EC inflation, deposit what you have in the bank - ariete has gazillions from depositing 50 EC in April.  Wait roughly two months, and you'll never have to ask for a custom avatar installation from me, ever - as long as you have the avatar.

- Well, actually it comes free at 20,000 posts, and is not for sale. However, I started in the Bank before ariete and have deposited far more EC than anyone, thousands, mostly made posting science news, and I made more interest than that today.  I laugh at 20,000 EC. Ha. Ha.

The punchline is that I can never get the Transcendi icon, even though I'll get to 20 thousand posts long before anyone else - I'm stuck as an engineer forever.

Petty new AC2 forum rule that I will enforce -unless sisko vetoes:  I used to get spam used on me as an insult word a lot, not because of the content of my posts, but just because I posted a lot and internet people can't seem to agree on a meaning of the term, except that spam sux hardcore.

What NAOP just said is super-fine, but if I hear the S-word applied to/aimed at members casually as an insult, my back is going to get up, and watch me go all nerdbadge on somebody. I'm half serious.  I was bleeping TROLLED for months straight with that moldy old spam bull[poop] last year, and I will [intercourse]ing lose it and abuse my powers if I hear that [poop] on my forum.


  So please don't do that.

the Transcendi icon is not for sale. at least not with that kind of EC inflation going on.

How about betting EC. I say Earthmike is going to stomp newbie but well meaning T ras into the fungus. Not even Cha dawn will be able to recognize the aftermath. So much so I put 200 EC and my chance of ridding myself of a cool 8 bit mindworm avatar on the line.

it will be difficult to find someone to bet against you, but why not? betting ECs is allowed on this site.

Maybe the word "bounty"would be better.In MMOs I am a PvP [prostitute]. In 4x,I am a carebear sandboxer. However, I will reward 200 EC which is about half my EC from slaving over AARs to whoever defeats earthmike. I will even provide propoganda.
