So, the neighborhood organized a little pick me up for a neighbor battling insert nasty cancer type here, who is more or less housebound.  They wanted to do luminaries...so, I donated the lights and a couple to the cause.

Guess which the Dox's submitted (all by Talia) (porch lights are evil)







They also set one on our porch for hEt.  Haven't talked much about that, her mom's breast cancer is attacking her brain and spine now, doesn't look good.  Let me take a test run with the new camera in a nighttime situation.

Yeah, that's why I've decided to call this one Vera (short for Veronica, means true image). 
The biggest 3 improvements Vera makes: 

I can now use the in camera meter.  No handheld needed, and no more guesswork.  SOOO much easier.
 
Manual focus aid retrofitted into the camera.  Sure it breaks it for autofocus lenses, but who cares?  Nifty optics how the things works.

WHITE BALANCE.  Oh, Bertha was HORRIBLE at white balance, I'd just taken it as 'normal' that I would have to adjust it before every shooting session and then tweek it more in photoshop.  Vera has been spot on with just auto mode.  Would probably be comfortable shooting in JPEG instead of RAW most the time with Vera as a result.  But not when I'm 'serious', too many nice things to do to the raw file in photoshop.   

Not a great shot as I was too lazy to grab the tripod or use flash, but Vera (left) and Bertha as seen from Frank (the ist, suffered electric shock and back from the grave).  Doesn't look that much bigger, but Vera is considerably heavier. 



Frank and Bertha along with a couple lenses I have better versions of have now been sent off to the used store.

Creepy.
I don't like things like that. I actually don't celebrate Halloween. Which was really friggin hard to start doing, with my mom and sisters celebrating it as well.
But I manage to get Halloween at my dads house every year. I'd like to know what it's like inside the mind of people who like those kinds of things.
Personally, the creepiest I'll go is some demon horns on a smiling bell.

What would you like to know? 

Anecdotal evidence seems to suggest most of us have awful troubled childhoods and find some kind of solace in it.

Personally, name me another hobby that lets me make my own stage, play, acting, directing, animatronics, and event planning.
