So there's been a little thing at work pressing for about the last year or so needing a govt decision.  Was supposed to be done July 2021.  That got pushed back to December, then January...

In January, I (perhaps foolishly) spoke up made the statement in the open that I bet we wouldn't know til after October 2022 and everyone needs to calm down. This was swiftly mocked. 

In July there was an announcement, and I was brutally mocked for a day as the place broke into celebration over the decision.  The decision was challenged the next day.  Review by a third party, which brought us to today...The challenge was officially upheld, the decision is kicked back for re-evaluation.  Minimum 30 days, more likely next year at this point. 

Now I'm some kind of Nostradamus around here with half the folks going full panic mode at what this means now. 

I put the next over-under as July 2023, caveat that I'm really not sure if midterms and budget 'discussions' can impact it at this point.  If they can...2024.

It legitimately wouldn't surprise me.  I'm honestly not sure how the budget situation in congress impacts this but I guarantee there's going to be a bunch of foot dragging on passing a budget after mid-terms.

Well we’re trying to do the party again this year. 

Still only about half-capacity on the yard though since With Kyle moved out, Alec working, and Talia busy teenage partying, I can only keep an eye on so much sq footage at a time. 

Day 1 of vacation has mostly been inventory and shopping.

Pumpkins ordered, pumpkin light checked out, batteries on order, most if not all the building supplies now on site.

Rain tomorrow, snow wed/Thursday good weather for the party Sunday.  Crap weather Halloween.

Here's more hEt because that's the real highlight.   

She's NOT a costume person, and this was quite extreme for her.  I was able to arrange a coordinating outfit to make us, not match, but seem of the same source in a way. 





we went extremely simple this year, but were able to bring back the pumpkin party, so lots of good from that. 

My older brother helped out, donating corn stalks and pumpkins.  (which was complicated but at least having some interaction with him)  So, all three of us brothers got together for the first time since Covid.  Parents weren't interested. 

Friend had a wedding and borrowed Trevor which was kinda fun. 

Trying to get a feel for how hEt and I can run things sans kids in the future.  We might scale back to just this front yard, or I might invest in security cameras out front and stay in the back with hEt, but I'm no longer comfortable with totally walking away from the candy drop because people seem to be becoming more and more assholery.  People who should act better.

I did have fun dressing up, now that the kids are adult (or nearly) it makes it easier. As long as the costume is fairly comfy, I think i’m totally on board.
