Looks like I had a post swallowed yesterday. 

I've figured a work around to the business license thing.  Now it's more a decision of what I want to do.  There's certainly something to be said for just putting in a vortex chiller as it will be much more accessible to those following and wanting to build their own.  There's also something to be said for breaking new ground with the new machine.

Thanks!  We love the circle.  Give me 2 years or so and we'll have a full gazebo over the rest the patio too.  Pergola over the front of the arch, new fence. 

And hopefully some upgrades on the landscaping side too. 

My raven grass plan from back in ~2010 just finally completed installation, I don't need to split it any more, so they can all just grow.  In another year or two I should be making TONS of it. 
Started some 'Indian Warrior' grass (similar but RED) this year as a test...I'm not optimistic due to when they sent me the plant, but we'll see. 


Trevor 2.0 is just the first step in what I see as a 3 year plan, mixing elements of a bunch of my old stuff.  Finally getting the witch done, and bringing in some real Mayan concepts, but meshing them into a more familiar setting for the general public.

Now, we did trim some of the lower branches, added about a foot around the base of the tree, and the path goes a heck of a lot closer to these trees now, so it is certainly something to think about.

Well, that's a good thing then they don't lose too many leaves. Anything you put in them and with some accent lights on it will look more mysterious because it can't be completely seen, and the leaves will cause more of a spotty shadow effect.

I mean, for gluing a store bought on the lid, it's actually not a bad design.  But get the chiller portion right and don't come into my area claiming to have invented the thing.

Here's a guy who half-took my suggestion on the best glue on option would be a shroud tomb.  Though I never considered the unfortunate effect the cheaper store-bought pelvis area creates...

Wow. 

I have to hand it to ipage.  I've been using them since I started hosting my page.  I know they aren't the cheapest, but it's days like today that I'm reminded how glad I am to use them. 

Part of my renewal fee this year was adding SSL to the website.  Lacking it has been causing me trouble as I host my own photos, and other sites over SSL often couldn't see them.  Not only did the website entirely transfer correctly, they had a one click option to 301 redirect all my links on the database, something I had been reading I was going to have to do more or less manually, and figured on it taking me days to update. 

So, website now back up to snuff from a functionality perspective.  Time to look at other updates.

Looks like a number of the more popular folks have suddenly started making props with hollow chests light lit by hidden lights.  I wouldn't go as far as to call them copies of the chimera designs, but this has been one of my staples in design.  I've written articles on designing around that light and learning how it's going to throw light and shadow.  The 'old guard' is catching on, and some of them will add their own spins to it as they play with the idea.  Others will soon follow.   

Mark my words, going to be bad copies of the concept on the mass market within 5 years.

Hey, I'll prefer bad copies of this idea to the stupid LED eyes that were ubiquitous for a long time. 

The market has a certain ebb and flow too.  I started "The Harvest" concept in 2010.  This year "Dark Harvest" was THE featured theme in the stores.  In another 3-5 years, the market will have moved on and I'll still be doing it. 

I'm just saying there's going to be a run on this design coming.  Some will not like it.  It'll wane.  I'll still be doing it after it's done.

Anyhow, basically lasers are now cheap enough to make this easy/cheap.  Conventional use is to have people/things hiding under to pop up and out.  I'm more interested in the shadowplay and hiding the grass.  And makes me wonder if I put the lasers at the level of the first pit, how that pit area might look...

If you can do them in other than horizontal, you could have them as area separator light "curtains" that helps to block off long sight lines...

The problem for ME in that situation is the walls are practically impossible to pull off OUTSIDE.  It's easy to fill a room with fog, and relatively easy to get a low blanket outside.  Really hard weather dependant to fill the outside with fog high enough to pull off tunnels/curtains.
