Got 6 coating tests drying now.  Interesting stuff.  Will be able to stress test them Saturday, then it's either back to the drawing board or onward.

It's a "system". 

The base is a powder.  It can be mixed with water to varying consistencies, or with different additives they sell. 

So, I tried it thick and thin with the water, both different additives, one smelled/looked/acted suspiciously like ModPodge, so I tried that, and I mixed some into paint, which was listed as an option on their instructions as well.

Personally, the paint went on easiest, and would be the simplest going forward.  I'm hoping it holds up under stress testing.

Sorry; I know how to fix that, but it'll take a few minutes to add spaces to the end of all the short ones -have to redo it every time we edit the list- or we'd be back to not being able to say night or constitution.

Hm, can tell you the paint is probably the worst performer of the tests, just by poking them this morning.   :(  At least at the 50% mixture they suggest.  Will retry with whichever performs best, and add just enough paint to get a base color, see how that holds up.

Oh, wait...

Seems there's a discrepency between their online directions and the printed directions sent to me (have them in front of me right now as well and confirmed).  The printed directions just say mix with 'any high quality paint'...online it specifies 'any high quality ACRYLIC paint'.  Gotta redo that one, I used latex.

Yeah, something on the darker side of 'stone' color so that I can drybrush a lighter shade on top to bring out the details. 

This stuff is gritty as well, almost a sandstone texture to it, which is good for the overall look as well.  (not that you'll notice at night with it lit and fogging and whatnot, but I will know)
