Hello!

I found this site while searching for mods related to SMAC. I do this from time to time while hoping there is a remake somewhere in the works. I'm a huge fan and I so disappointed there wasn't a sequel or a remake. That and the fact I didn't manage to get my hands of the novels, I bet those were interesting to read.

 Anyways, what attracted me to this site was the Alpha Centauri 2 thing. Is somebody working on something like that or is it just for marketing reasons?

Hmm.  The name was sisko's doing before my time - he never related his thinking about that.

The source code database that scient is planning to release in a few days is a big step towards someone being able to work on a sequel.  We certainly have to coding and graphic expertise around for that...

Found this place a year or two back looking for custom factions since I had JUST Started tinkering with the faction editor;already been rather helpful in getting the coding right. That reminds me, got another question to post on the modding board.

Do you know if anyone has torn apart the faction text pages to spell out what the format needs to be and what each bit of data means, changes, spells out or does?

Pretty rudimentary, I know, but I'm learning the hard way here.

I know that it's been done - and all the fellows good at the tech end are not so generous with the big knowledge, which is a source of considerable frustration to someone who's spent so much time on tutorials for the art and creative end of faction modding...

-I mean, I'd be fine with someone just jiggering AcEdit to work w/ W7 or later and include the Xfire stuff like the alien dialogue, but no luck on that so far...
