Portraits 7

Leaderheads are the most time-consuming aspect of a SMACX faction graphic, so in the same spirit as the Bases, Logos and Landscape series (also to be found in this section of AC2 Downloads), here are eight leaderheads, ready to copy/paste as-is into your next custom faction.  It is hoped that these graphic goodie files will give beginners at faction modding a leg up.  For info on art techniques and to ask any questions, post here.

These portraits were a lot of work, but all I ask is that you credit me in the blank space of the .pcx you use one in.  Posting to let me know you found it useful would be okay, too.   Enjoy.

These are interactively drawn with the midjourney AI. I like the Svensgard, Roze, Miriam and Domai portraits. (Tho Domai's floating hat is a bit incongruous)

Interesting but mostly not compatible likenesses w/ the originals, though some of them are better creative choices - Domai looking used up is better, for instance.

-And there's already a redhead, so making Deirdre one was a bad call.


Now to save copies of all these paste-ins.  Wish they didn't make me jump through an extra hoop wanting to save in an exotic format...

Found an old-school graphics idea from an old-school thread-

You know what we really need here in these forums is a few suggestions of sites that are great for fetching faction graphics, porting them with minimum manipulation[...]

To start with, I have one of my own. It is a library of SKURK files for the old SimCity 2000 -- just copy the sample .jpgs right off the web site, no need to download anything. There are lots of great ideas there for base graphics if you want to spend the time fiddling with them to paste them into a faction.pcx file. The address is: http://scurk.com/scurklibrary.html

The SimCity Urban Renewal Kit library site is sadly defunct, but there's archives on the Wayback Machine with some of the art still present. Might be worth digging through for spare assets.

   Stuff like that is always a good resource, especially for beginners.  Old Time Magazine covers that used painting up to the 50s are good for leaderheads to future up, and I did.

hi BUncle, i remebered a fast trick in GIMP to make the scanlines, you had to click just a bottom and the 2 layers, that lighter and that darker, became one with this scanline effect  i have to check my old HD to see if i saved that info
