there's no readme in the 3.1b release. just the .exe file.

Note that all other files (except for terranx.exe) from the 3.1 patch are needed for 3.1b as well.

If you only install 3.1, the game will still work; it simply has some bugs (which would be present even in the unpatched version if they weren't hidden by bigger bugs) when conquering a base from  ;ulrik; or  ;cha;, or when using certain modded factions.

If SMAX works on service pack 3 without needing a different executable, my patch should as well.

Hey, I don't know if I've stuffed something up, but the game seems to crash whenever I try to attack wild lifeforms. This is a bit of an issue, given they tend to pop up a fair bit.

Edit: To specify: The issue seems to be ones out of pods.

Edit 2: Okay, that's weird. I can attack Towers, but not anything else. Wild or Pods.

Edit 3: And now it's unplayable. Seems to be crashing at the end of the turn (press Space). Sooo, yeah. Cannae complete. Save at http://tinyurl.com/ozrl9kj

Thank you.  I found the bug, and 3.1c should be up shortly.  Simply loading the savegame and playing with 3.1c will work fine.
