The probe bar might be good for mid and late game, but the AI succeeds in using probes to seize your bases early game if you don't have defence against them.

Thanks, Blaneck good to know, I don't remember seeing it.
If there are repors of AI being weaker in this area, I will easily change that. I wish I had the fix for effective AI probing instead, that would be much better.

Kyrub, is there any chance you can pass Yitzi whatever files you have on the AI project, including the locations of various data, etc?

Honestly, no.

Yitzi has never shown any real willingness to cooperate with me, saying he had no time for a common project. Make no mistake: I am not hurt, I have no problem with it, it has happened to me already. His patch is his thing, his is a soloist's effort, so be it. But I won't be sharing my work with a soloist, who had no time for me,  I think it's simple and understandable. (And in a few months, Beyond Earth is out. So who cares, anyway?)

On the other hand, as I see it, Yitzi has all the info he needs to penetrate the AI, probably more info than I ever had. He has the skills to do it, certainly. He has even my files where all my work is visible to exe coders... Easy.

I still don't care about the expansion, which is really just an extras mod without any additions to the engine.  If you like one of the factions, just import it (even though they are all weak; a cyborg (university) faction with disabled growth, another with too much industry to even use and just spams synthametals).  Then you can play the original without the additional unbalancing secret projects, like the Cloud Base Academy that makes overpowered air even more overpowered.

Ok...I was hoping to get at least information on any pointers you've figured out...but if I have to figure it out myself I figure I can.

I'd intervene here, but I still don't care about the expansion.

You can disable just CBA if you want the other extras from SMAX by putting the tech requisite to "Disable" in alphax.txt
Personally I just double the cost to 60 rows

Yitzi, I'd definitely like to ask you to become subservient to Kyrub.  For the original's sake.

Unfortunately, that isn't really feasible.

However, I think I may be able to easily implement a "use SMAC instead of SMAX" option in my patch.

I still care about the progress of Yitzi's Unofficial Patch, and, according to the respondents of the pre-release poll, more than two thirds do not think Beyond Earth is the sequeal we were waiting for.

I will agree with you on that most of the features from SMAX do not excite me, but I think you should let Yitzi do what he does best.
