Do extra Police units reduce Psych and increase Drones?
« on: March 28, 2014, 02:55:27 PM »
I found it necessary to install Police units in many of my bases. My Police rating allows one per base. If by circumstance I build two in a base, does this negatively impact Psych and/or Drones, or is the extra unit's Police effect ignored and it serves as just another standard unit. Do I need to reduce the number of Police units somehow, or can I leave the extra there?

Dones, Drones, whatever :D

I personally found no issues arise with psych or citizen happiness when I put more troops in my cities, but that may just be because I am fairly militaristic player to begin with, and wouldn't know what is like with more peaceful strategies...

There is no downside to keeping more Police units in your bases than your Police rating allows for use as police.  The only sort-of exception is that in the unpatched version the virtual police unit from the self-aware colony (which does not have non-lethal methods) will take precedence over units that do have non-lethal methods; my patch (starting in the same version that added drone control flags, IIRC) fixes this bug.

Thank you. I can rest easy knowing things are quiet and under control in my bases.

The substructure of the universe regresses infinitely towards smaller and smaller components. Behind atoms we find electrons, and behind electrons, quarks. Each layer unraveled reveals new secrets, but also new mysteries.
