Better science picker/selector
« on: June 16, 2023, 11:30:29 PM »
Just started playing the game again after many years (thanks GOG!).

Maybe I'm just imagining it, but I feel there was an option to better select the next science to research, instead of the large boxes.  I couldn't find it in the options.  Maybe I'm thinking of another SM Civ game...

Is there a mod that improves this?

Mods generally don't and can't do anything to substantially change the UI.  It is all machine code.  It's not like games in recent years that have scripted UI interfaces and publicly available API standards.

Just to be 100% sure, you aren't thinking of the Blind Research setting, are you? The interface is pretty different between Blind and Directed research choices.

You know, that's probably it.  I knew there was a setting or something (it's been a minute!)

The entire character of a base and its inhabitants can be absorbed in a quick trip to the Rec Commons. The sweaty arenas of Fort Legion, the glittering gambling halls of Morgan Bank, the sunny lovers' trysts in Gaia's High Garden, or the somber reading rooms of U.N. Headquarters. Even the feeding bay at the Hive gives stark insight into the sleeping demons of Yang's communal utopia.
